Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The next Intel layoffs scheduled for July 15, 2026

Intel's next scheduled major job eliminations for 2026 are set to take effect on July 15, 2026. These cuts specifically impact manufacturing hubs, including four campuses in Oregon, where worker counts for this round jumped nearly fivefold to approximately 2,400 roles.
This 2026 wave is part of a broader initiative to slash an additional $1 billion in operating expenses throughout the year to reach a target global headcount of approximately 75,000 employees.

Intel was an awesome company to work for in the past. I used to show up 30min early everyday. That's how much I loved the company. With the management and poor decisions over the last decade or so have made the company go downhill. I've seen managers that were supposed to be laid off had new temporary departments created for them until something permanent came along. We just have poor management running the show for too long. Now look what they have done to Intel. I've been here for 26 years and I think I'll be taking the next buyout.

It could be complete notifications by July 15, if the rumor was true.

@11a
Generally speaking, the date does if you assume this is the notification date - puts it ~10 weeks to EOQ.

Fact it is in the middle of the week is suspicious. Not even after the holiday week. I'm calling BS on this one.

July 15 date makes no sense. It doesn't benefit the Q2 or Q3 results. June 30 would make more sense as all of the charges can be taken in Q2 so the poor financial results will have an excuse.

If you have a job in 2036, you’re going to be well-outpacing the plebe masses on “barely get-by UI”.

Intel deserves everything it is getting right now, arrogance and elitist attitude toward their employees and managers-ignoring cost cutting in place of production goals, plus blatant a-s-kissing to get ahead. Good bye and good riddance!

Intel has very low (negative) profitable income in Q1-Q2 2026. Layoffs are coming.

Intel 18A is not producing products quick enough in 2026 or the yield is still too low...

Intel announces layoffs months in advance so employees get scared and work 80 hr weeks instead of 65 hr weeks to avoid being hit. This has been the case for many past layoffs.

@br
Don't kid yourself, Zisner 's prior role was as an equity acquisition and hatchet man. The entire SCIP created to sell off 1/2 of all FAB assets was his brain child. It was also his brainchild to cut production of 10 manometer without having a 1.8 nanometer that was fully yield and volume ready. How much revenue was lost by that decision? TSMC pays for their R&D for new nodes with high yield older nodes. Intel used to do this!

@ce Layoffs are what we thought they were. That’s why we took the d@mn field. Now if you wanna crown em, crown their @sses. THEY ARE WHAT WE THOUGHT THEY WERE. And we let em off the hook.

@br apparently you have not been here too long. Intel has a history of spending 6 months or more analyzing and planning layoffs. Go back more than 20 years to SET and follow every layoff since. Intel announces layoffs before they start planning resulting in torturing the employees during the whole process. Other companies announce layoffs right before they happen. Intel can't make quick decisions which is a major reason why it is in the current state and can't compete.

@br we heard chatter here in AZ about "potential" layoffs ~13 months before they happened last year...it was confirmed by my management 2 months prior to layoffs happening followed by management warning us to prepare a Plan B for ourself and our families in case we were the ones laid off...luckily Im still here

I doubt any of the layoffs we had so far have been planned so far in advance. I'd bet few weeks before at most, think of what chaos credible leak of layoff half a year in advance would cause.

Rumors here in Oregon are thst this upcoming layoff will be at Ronler and Aloha. Mostly area managers who lost their role last year (working on projects and have no reports), module engineers, and module equipment techs. Lots of headcount shuffling still ongoing. ROC techs training the last of the Malaysians before the ROC officially dissolves.

Far better places to work. Intel no longer understands that benefits are what retain employees. There is no future here, it’s nothing more than a job. - Treat it as such.
