Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Fear ki-ls focus

Every day I wonder if today's the day. And they expect me to just perform like normal? That's not possible. The stress is all I can think about.

@mk There is none in the public sector either. Unless you are in the military or police. These can lay you off for smoking or missing work.

Outside of the public sector, there is no security. Keep your skills up, your contacts current, and your eyes and ears perceptive.

I don't know what stress people are talking about. It's a 8 to 5 job. Some people are mentally handicapped. That is the only hard thing about the job at Fiserv. Much easier than most.

Stress? LOL. Fiserv and Big Mike dont care about their clients. Why would you stress? Mike is destroying Fiserv beyond repair and it doesn't bother him one bit!

First Data (acquired by Fiserv) did their first massive layoff in 1997. This because normalized for the next 29 years. Horrible way to live but after the Fiserv acquisition, it could happen any day of the week and not only on a Thursday. I had neighbors who heard about a layoff and timidly ask why I was home at a random afternoon time (but I was only working an unusual shift). Being laid off from FD was never a negative to any other employer in Omaha. It was a badge of courage.

Don't develop anxiety over things you can't control. Control what you can control by continuing to and/or starting to elevate your work. Cross your I's, dot your T's, start and/or continue to aggressively save and cut expenses, update the resume and pay attention to the market. You'll be alright.

Don't get yourself worked up every day. You can minimize the anxiety by focusing it a couple days before payday. They usually tell you then so they can make a clean break.

Not really exclusive to Fiserv, but it feels much more sporadic and poorly targeted here.
