Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Is the site in Pennington NJ closing or not?

Any truth to the rumor that Pennington is not closing just yet? No word on the rumored new building in PA and no communication from management on anything. Will everyone be expected to relocate to JC and NYC or will everyone just be let go? Will anyone get severance? When will any of this happen?

Pennington office is a front office servicing clients ? I go there and unless the delivery person is considered as a client, it is not a front office and public cannot just walk in. So stop lying.

And I go to JC nearly every day - all 5 days and it is 100% true what @jh an @fb posted. JC is very empty and is a ghost town. Anyone who has been to Pennington also knows that Monday and Fridays the place is a ghost town.

So stop lying and providing false hope to the folks who desperately wish that Pennington is not closed and they do not have to commute into JC or NYC.

That is cruel and sadistic

@jh they have no room whatsoever in Jersey City considering I go there for work. They’re also not having support roles in Pennington move to NYC because most of those people are in the front office and they need space for clients.

Given their track record if they can’t move people to PA they’re going to have to do a temporary lease renewal where they’re at until they have a contingency plan.

The confusion all stems from poor communication and execution by management. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Remember that BNY only cares about the stock price. Employees are not valued.

@es

You folks are projecting your hope and wish (to keep the place going) with reasons and logic that favors your position (or wish).

But the fact is, JC for example is not fully occupied and it can take a lot more let alone Pennington. And with an impending layoff in May/June PLUS a lot are leaving voluntarily it can and will accommodate the entire Pennington population.

On any day, go around JC and you will find more than sixty percent of the seats are empty. And Pennington too is nearly empty on any day.

Do your math and get ready than hoping.

Today is April 10th. There’s no way they can have a building with a new lease up and running in less than six months when you take into account floor plans, construction, etc. Without a plan going forward they going to have to have a contingency plan which means they won’t be able to give up Pennington since there’s no room in NY or Jersey City for more people.

No one is being moved from Pennington in July.

I have not heard anything from my manager. Should I be worried?

I heard that employees will be expected to vacate the building by sometime in July.
