It should be all about the athletes, and the amazing action sequences, then you got that fat lipped prost---te standing there doing nothing, and they had to repeat her name a bunch of times at the start. She literally made the entire thing into cheap garbage.

Kim represents none of the values that Nike stands for. Zero. If this were just a one off collaboration, that would be more understandable. But it’s an entire branded product line. A complete cash grab aimed at women while degrading sports. What an embarrassment.
I hear you on what Kim K represents etc but will insist, even more because of that, the problem is not that she’s in the ad. It’s that we have Nike Skims

Such a good point. We should pick someone who can inspire next generation girls to play sports like Serena. The ad would be almost flawless without KK. Really had no f*cking idea why she was there.
I think it ultimately comes down to values and the message we send to younger women about success. Are we teaching that success comes from hard work, talent, and integrity, or from selling s-xuality online? It’s frustrating to see hardworking women often overlooked while women who build brands around s-xuality receive the biggest opportunities and visibility.
@hp I just think it’s pretty crass to associate the Nike brand with a celebrity like Kim, given her reputation. It has nothing to do with her not being a professional athlete; it has to do with what she represents.
So Kim was the problem but not all the other non pro athlete celebrities in the ad? Come on, I don’t care about her either but y’all are being too sensitive right now
These comments are why Nike is failing. I mean dear god. Have you guys looked at RSV? It’s atrocious. Literally atrocious. It’s truly embarrassing. We should all be embarrassed about Q4. Open a tableau dashboard and check it out. All that’s doing well is… Running, Global Football, Golf, Training, and…wait for it…NikeSkims. It is a post-mortem of the decisions we make from VPs to PLMs on what we think will sell. And sh-t ain’t selling. Q4 about to be BAD people. Sportwear leading the way in declines. The ‘sport’ that’s reflective of Gen Pop consumer preferences. So maybe take a second to reflect that you might not be as smart as you think you are. Stop blaming VPs for every freaking thing. You’re holding onto an old idea. Go into the ES. Does it REALLY look that much different than 5-6 years ago? Ooo, instead of Nike Trail it now says ACG. Innovative. I mean, we have to take risks to get out of the slump. Also, guess what else barely covers you up and goes up your a-s, a jo------pDown vote this to he-l, but stop fighting math people.

Nike’s brand is its most valuable asset. It feels like this leadership team, or maybe the previous one under JD, chose chasing after short-term sales over long-term brand value.

@cs I honestly don't care much about Nikeskims. those clothes should be set on fire. can't even donate them to charity. who is going to wear clothes that are extremely uncomfortable, very tight, go up your b.u.tt, and only cover half your parts? I mean jeez... the bras cover only half your br.easts. your bre.asts pop off, don't sit right and really hurt in those tight bras that don't fit right. If someone wanted to start a petition, to have her removed I’d sign it 😅👀 There are plenty of other teams or players that could have been included for exposure or to further the reach of the ad and the Nike name, yet everyone has to look at KK some more. What garbage.

You don’t have to be a Kim fan, but acting like Nike randomly picked her misses the point. She’s one of the most influential people in culture, just launched a partnership with Nike, and gets people talking. Nike has always been about the intersection of sport and culture. The fact that everyone’s debating the ad kind of proves it worked.
Using Kim in a Nike commercial is honestly quite symbolic of how far Nike is fallen and how confused it is about its return to relevance strategy.
To be honest I rather see more Ted Lasso...
