Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Notice a FT co-worker consistently works less than 40 hours

They arrive at 8am and leave around 2:30 for daycare pickup but never see them back online or available for any meetings later in day. How do people get away with this!? My workload would not allow that.

He works at night. You don’t see when people work overtime at home. Being flexible doesn’t mean working less time and delivering less.

@hk

you are quite the comedian but you fail to think things through. unsurprising that a massive bootlicker doesn't have much in the way of critical thinking skills.

i'm sure you'll thrive in-office where you can play to your (very few) strengths, none of which involve actual work getting done.

All the “mind your own business” sentiment, guess what? That’s exactly why you are all right where you are. Coworkers, managers, everyone minded their own business, ignored the stupidity and now you have new leadership that came in, saw the stupidity and is taking drastic measures to fix it. Congratulations, you scr3w3d yourselves. Ha.

Given the new 8 hour per day in office mandate that went out this week, it’s on their manager to enforce now.

It seems obvious to me that the OP is about hypocrisy and favoritism at WF, not being a "Karen." Some people get fired over desktop analytics, while others skate. The reaction in this and other recent threads tells me that "managers" have discovered this site and they are using the time they spend not managing to get butt-hurt on anonymous threads about what a brainless cult WF is.

If they're exempt, who cares?

So long as the work gets done correctly and on time, they're free to leave when they need to.

I'm speaking as an exempt employee who "works" about 30-60 minutes a day, then spends the next 5 hours "jiggling" my mouse to look available while taking care of important things in my non-work life. If work needs me, I'm there, if they don't, I'm doing other productive stuff.

I'm not paid to man a chair and look busy, I'm paid to do the job. My job's description says nothing about how many hours a day I have to remain in a WF-approved seat.

@bs

Recheck your job description. If it doesn't cover anything along the lines of "monitor the ongoing presence and productivity of your peers", then it's truly none of your business. Someone is in charge of that and it ain't you.

Snitches get stitches.

I have eight different bosses right now… So that means that when I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That’s my only real motivation is not to be hassled—that and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get fired

as an exempt employee once I work over 4 hours in a given day I'm good to go.

Maybe they log in at home before 8am to work the rest of their hours.

Karen, be sure to report it to the guy who drives around with “MNGR” on this license plate. He’ll/she’ll get right on it.

@a8 - Better yet, schedule a meeting with the 'suspected offender' in the time span in question.

Don’t worry, Karen- I’m sure you will be talking to the manager to get this handled.

You must have a lot of free time to monitor a coworker’s availability. I couldn’t tell you when my coworker’s arrive or when they leave. I’m too busy doing my actual job. If you need to meet with them why don’t you send them a meeting request?
