Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Employee Survey

Lots good comments here but leaders may not see them. So put your feedback in annual employees survey. It is anonymous and official.

okay, care to explain in more detail? all your posts about JM are the same vague statements constantly and are losing credibility and becoming hackneyed.

@wb I’m glad you got justice. When people retaliate, discriminate, bully and create a toxic work environment it should result in a termination.

That’s not the case if you work under JM. His past is a widely known and if people know his past they are in a protected class of their own. Shame on legal for allowing this for years and years and years. Disgusting!

@x1 do you work for SBS? She doesn’t have to be accountable because…..well JM!

Hilarious. We worked for a toxic leader and most of us put in realistic ratings so then she gets us together and tortures us some more on how to “fix” it because of course the problems had nothing to do with her in her mind.

Last time I filled that out

I’ve seen a lot of people say that Speak Up reports are always investigated by HR. That wasn’t really my experience. I filed a report and it actually went pretty well, but I don’t think HR handled it directly. The follow‑up conversations I had were with another group. The person I reported either got fired or just disappeared and they were with Nike for years so I’m assuming it was handled because of the report. I never got a formal explanation, but they were doing some sketchy stuff with a vendor we used,

I didn’t feel targeted afterward, and honestly things got better for my team once it was over. YMMV though but it worked for my situation.

But, no way would i trust an employee survey - HR sees and knows who submitted those

you are confusing the words confidential with anonymous

@gc how many scandals can we list? It would require HR to actually do their job if they held leaders accountable. What a concept? How many complaints before an employee isn’t protected anymore? BJ is a joke under our team. She’s actually part of the “click” and BFFs with “the right people”. It’s become a joke and an embarrassment where leaders sit around and say nothing because they know it doesn’t matter. How many investigations has JM been part of? Just to clarify, HR is part of legal. So they investigate their own team? If that’s not a scandal I don’t know what is. We all just go with the flow. Sit back and make jokes about what SBS will get away with next and actively spend our day looking for a new job.

@hf the truth isn’t the truth. It may be YOUR truth but that’s for HR to determine. Speak freely because you are probably a b**tlicker that’s “safe” just know that it’s not anonymous. Now get back to your class of Koolaid. Or - hey there HR - posting for bait. DO NOT use the Speak Up Portal. The surveys don’t matter and if leaders just did their job Nike would be in a different place.

If HR intimidates you, intimidate them back, what are they doing to, fire you?

Unlikely, because they would lead to a definite lawsuit

there purpose is to not get sued, or waste time with frivolous lawsuits, hence the layoff with the package, it's a buy out that you lose if you sue

so let it rip in those reports, let it rip in the speak up portal, if they come after you, yes, you might be on the layoff list with severance, but that is the all they can do

now of course, that is a lot, no one likes to be unemployed!

or, just find another job.....ya the swoosh is this, that and the other, but really, is it worth it.....is it worth it at all?!

I love the survey. I answer honestly every year because I am not a coward. I don’t care if it is anonymous or not. The truth is the truth. I am always respectful and constructive. It isn’t hard.

@ft

Nike HR doesnt protect the company, they protect leadership

that is why they wont ever do anything to hold leaders accauntable for anything. they risk huge lawsuits or scandals instead of doing their job.

@c7 I would document. Intimidations is a toxic work environment where employees aren’t safe to speak up. Don’t waste your time with Nike HR. Attend meetings that you are required to attend, but speak very little. Go to BOLI - you can still file a complaint through them while you are employed and Nike can’t retaliate against you for doing it. BOLI will conduct their own investigation. Nike HR protects the company and won’t protect you.

These stories are sad but relatable. I filed a report in the speak up portal and was sent a meeting invite the very next week by HR which I could only describe as an attempt at intimidation. If you must, I would consider running your words through Ai as a means of being less identifiable and getting your point across as professional as possible.

nah, drill them, critique, just be professional, as long as the tone isn't over the top, it's just feedback, balance with something good so it's not all complaining

Agree with others.
Dont do the survey or only fill it out with 5s and thumbs up. No comments.

Same goes for peer or manager feedback.
Always give positive feedback and no criticism or else it will come back to haunt you.

Obviously dont file a speak up unless you have the willpower to go through a multi year lawsuit and have time to waste. Otherwise shut up or move on.

Sad realities of corporate

Did you say “anonymous”. That’s funny. Nothing is anonymous. They will know exactly who said what and then the retaliation begins. Don't even invest your time in completing a survey because your feedback doesn’t matter. Don’t use the speak up portal because your voice doesn’t matter. Anything you say can and will be used against you. Trust nobody! I filed a speak up complaint and HR started their investigations and interviews by telling the person they were interviewing that I was the one that filed the complaint and also told them who the complaint was against! HR is there to protect the company. Keep your head down, do your work and get out if it’s toxic but DO NOT speak up internal to Nike. P.S my post will be deleted because the people that did this will know who posted it. I will continue to share my experience because freedom of speech is a right, and integrity is non-negotiable.

Lmfao. They are not anonymous. Got my boss fired and everyone knew exactly which subordinate is now considered "toxic"

So put our comments in the “anonymous” surveys where they’re either completely ignored, or you’ve made yourself a target? These surveys go out to say they did it and determine where to cut when people that speak out against the grain.

Yeah, Nike's environment is so f..uking weird. At this point, I don't care. For sure, management watches this forum and retaliates. Which is so beyond sick. But nothing fazes me in this toxic environment, where if you speak up, you are being punished.

It’s less anonymous than it seems. Comments are read aloud, word for word, among leadership. Names aren’t shown, but some sh---y insecure leaders still try to guess who wrote feedback they disagree with and retaliate. I’ve seen this happen firsthand.
