I have heard that 20% of NTWs will be rolled off by 5th May. Is it true? Are they coming back to full timers again after this? When will be the end?

@ha I think that’s kind of the point of the layoffs. They want to bring back knowledge and responsibility to the FTE teams.
We'll always need NTWs even if Claude can do everything. You can't pocket kickbacks from FTEs or AI.
@xk - i think the reverse. There are lots of NTW under national Operations, RF and Development that, those could be easily reduced or eliminated. Those were never assessed and were continued working even after big layoff. This needs to be looked closely to save OPEX.
@ty The assumption that NTWs can just be benched and still get paid is simply wrong—many lose income immediately.
Also, let’s be honest—there are many cases where contractors are doing the bulk of the actual work while FTs present it. So assuming NTWs are somehow less critical or easily replaceable is not accurate.
In fact, some individuals remain contractors specifically due to constraints like immigration or GC processes, not by choice. If leadership wants to act fairly, focus on actual contribution. Convert strong NTWs to FTs and address low performers across the board—don’t hide behind labels.
@ty you think consulting middlemen have a bench ! Lol
@ty consultant middleman takes 50%
Hope they keep FT’s and let NTWs go. NTWs can be placed on bench by their employers and still get paid. You’re shacking a family with FT’s layoffs. If a leader is reading it, show your leadership and support in transferring the necessary jobs and skills to FTs and let NTWs go. There are NTWs working on a high pay rate from last 10 - 15 years. Just ask HR data on how many NTWs working here from long time and focus on them first. They just change vendors. You will be shocked. Have a plan, don’t just fire people like that.
Yes
20% cut in May 5 for NTW.
Probably in june there will be an FTE layoff too.
Expect this every quarter
Leadership is planning for Claude to do all the work because they were able to copy an existing thing in claude within hours
Ind I IA is like not going to affect the revenues now or fte. The leaders are going to keep loosing customers to the other Telcom.
@ha so true because they did most of the work while the full timer plan it. My team had HCL doing most the work but we were there as well to facilitate. I remember one time I try to prepare a document the HCL worker beg me to delete it to let him prepare I was like ok I was trying to help you but I figured it must be something with them showing work I guess
In many teams, Contractors have more knowledge than FTEs.
NTWs are needed in this company so that companies like Accenture, Infosys, Cap Gemini , IG can survive and feed TMO managers.
Bro the company is in the oven over heating to to a burning crisp and you are caring about in d IA or even the home internet. There never has been significat progress in those investments. Common now
Yes, there will be another layoff by May primarily affecting Operations in areas where they are over-strength, Field Operations
@az Hydera-we-cant-code-to-good.
NTW isn't a good business model, been time to go.
All IT work is going to Hyperabad
Probably work will be in Tmobile Global - offshore. 1 NTW headcount here in USA, can hire several NTW headcount in India.
