Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

MB posters appear stuck at stage 2 of grief

So much anger expressed, with so little indication of any ability to move forward. You have some work to do before reaching the acceptance stage people.

Move on. Getting RIF’d from a low compensation with unfair labor practices is the probably the best thing to happen. What ever they told you that Oracle was good company was just tainted kool-aid to fool you. Translate your skills to new industries and companies that will appreciate your talents. No need to have grief on this loss. Your coworker friends who are real friends will still be your friends.

@x1 another interesting part has been all of the people looking at my LinkedIn profile but not acknowledging that I was RIF. Not a sorry, f you.. just nosing around on my profile. Don’t worry. I am taking notes for the future. Karma is a bi--h.

I was one of the ones RIF in March. Definitely see myself slowly progressing through the stages of grief. One of the hardest parts for me is realizing how people I had worked with for years dropped me after the RIF. Haven’t reached out. Don’t even bother to like a LinkedIn post from me but can fall all over people they think can do something for them on social media. Your coworkers are not your friends.

@gw I might be one of those people. Good point.

@b8 a lot of people don't move on until they find their next job. There are plenty of people posting from last year's layoffs that are still unemployed and their contempt is obvious. Some people never fully get over the betrayal of being let go when they didn't expect it.

Not a fair assessment.

People go to the message boards when they first get the news. Yes they are upset, the new situation is still too new to move on past the first stage. Many of those who reply might have been recently rif'd, THEY may be at the second stage.
