Wilmington to close

I saw they finally leaked the entire location is closing. They should give employees time to find new jobs, most won't be able to relocate. How they treat employees is wrong

I worked in the Wilmington office and the story I heard was they want to go from 35 properties to about 5. They are expanding the lake Mary offices. I don’t know if I would consolidate financial services in a hurricane prone area especially if they need to evaluate funds on a daily basis. Being older I couldn’t wait around and be even older to start looking for a new job.

I was aware of it since last year. I used to talk to many people from building maintenance. They had told me that there were potential buyers coming in every other week to see the building. I started looking for a new job in November last year and was able to join new company in April. I knew this day would eventually come . It still not too late for folks working there. Go and find another job. Don’t rely on severance, mgmt will try to force Wilmington employees to partial meets or did not meet ratings, which will make it easier to fire without severance. Frankly it is the shittiest company I have worked at in my career. On top of that many of managers are totally spineless.

@sd
Yeah but it is only renewed for 205,000 sq feet. That’s nearly half what it was in 2010. Boston is not closing right now. But it is definitely not a growth center and they will close Everett.

BNY would not renew the Boston lease if they planned to close.

@rs
Boston is going to be extinct soon enough.
Not a growth center. Just a redundancy. Everett is a goner.

Who 'leaked it'? I too, know it's coming, but no senior managers have said it out loud yet. I'd love to know the actual end date for peace of mind.

What’s sad is that 3 of the Legacy company’s that came together had a very large presence in Delaware at one time. And now, not much left of anything. Oh and the corporation is also a Delaware Corporation but state law allows for companies to take advantage of all of the Delaware benefits without having to employ anyone in the state. Sad days.

Why is this news to people? I work there, and I knew this was coming at some point. The signs are all there. As soon as they didn’t label it a growth site I knew that. Then when we went from being so full in two buildings that they had to lease an extra floor in a third building and now being down to one building that still feels empty. And then right after they put it up for sale and sold it with a lease back agreement. Why? So they can close it easier and be out faster. My bigger question is how didn’t you know?

Is there anyone working in Wilmington who wasn't aware of this? Sure, there might not be anything official out yet, but it should be painfully obvious to anyone here that this location is in a "death spiral".

Frankly, it’s amazing that it took this long for them. Just another closing and shrinkage that checks the box for our management to falsely say ‘we are growing the business’
