Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

I’m increasingly surrounded by colleagues who show little drive to deliver real value or contribute meaningfully. Instead, many seem more focused on pulling others down—especially when someone is actually trying to push work forward. My supervisor appears completely disengaged; he barely puts in effort himself and shows no interest in supporting the team or addressing these dynamics.
This environment has become unsustainable for me. It feels like the clearest signal yet that it’s time to move on. I’m actively looking for a new role and hoping to make that transition soon—I just can’t keep operating in a place that’s draining me like this. It’s starting to affect my mental health, and I need to get out before it gets worse.

Every company knows that the most important thing is people and culture. When this core asset is destroyed it will take decades to recover. CVX is no longer the same company that we used to know. Unfortunately the damage that MW has done will be felt way past his tenure.

I never said he was not overcompensated, I just said his wages are determined by the BoD based upon the return of the stock price. I wish the jobs were not moving overseas but there are a lot of companies that are moving their employees overseas. It is a way for corporations to reduce the cost of wages and benefits. I think the corporate direction is a long term problem for the USA workforce. Who is going to buy overpriced cr@p from Amazon when USA workers don’t have jobs?

exactly. the old and the young seem to make their identity and/or life off of their job. it presents itself in different ways but the fact remains

giving a nice fair 40 hours, putting up with some BS, and enjoying the rest of your time is underrated

It’s a job, go, do the bare minimum to get paid and leave. You don’t need to like your colleagues or care about them, just don’t be an a’’hole.
Don’t think of people in that place it’s not a family or friends, It’s random people.

Focus on you, keep quiet, and get your money.

@e2 Just because a CEO is compensated far too much for the shareholders doesn't mean he shouldn't have some morals and a shred of care for the employees. He's destroyed the Morale of the company and hurt so many hard working employees. He should have a soul but he sold it already. CEOs need to be held accountable. There is nothing legally forcing them to act this way. Its pure greed!

I think that is too harsh, the CEO is measured by the increase in market value per share. Mike Worth has delivered on that in the stock. You can down vote me all you want but MW has earned his value from the perspective of the BoD. No I not from HR. I am just a regular bottom dweller that does my best everyday. I have worked at some other very good companies and Chevron treats people well. I will stay here as long as I can because the grass is not greener on the outside. But, everyone has the right to voice there opinion and a "right to work" where they want. God Speed!

If you research the situation you describe that would qualify as 1) looking for other positions within Chevron, 2) looking externally for a new job position. I have worked for several companies during my life and there times when you just need to move on. unfortunately, the job market is slow right now, but I suggest you get your resume updated, and begin looking both internal and external and when the right job comes along be ready to take the opportunity to start a new position whether it is internal or external to Chevron

I feel you my fellow coworker. I am always stressing in this toxic cesspool where no one can feel my fee-fees like I feel my fee-fees. I wish that I had a fee-fee partner who would sit with me and we could share our deep innermost thoughts and feelings. That's what every work environment should be is a therapeutic fee-fee session where we can reach out and connect. We shouldn't have to product anything or provide a service. We should all get paid to come to work and be in our own truth, meditate, not be toxic to each other and share our deepest thoughts, feelings and desires. A true utopian environment.

Good for them! Why be invested in doing good work for this cesspool of a company? Isn't "matching energy" the hot trend these days? Has Chevron treated us so well, that they deserve our best?
