@ek Mark rehired Savinay to impose metrics on things that cannot be measured (like thinking about how to accomplish something) so that everyone is focused on quantifying their work rather than producing quality work. It also, I feel, has created a great deal of fear--we all know that we could be losing our jobs in the next round. That's no way to run a successful company.
