Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Your thoughts on IT

IT is a mess. Never seen it this bad. Its even worse than when Eder was here. What are you seeing in your team? We can't get any decisions made. Nothing is getting done. The only thing we see are jobs heading offshore. Getting out as soon as I can.

@10x Exactly. When I am out of office all he-l breaks loose. When my manager is no one even notices, that speaks volumes.

cigna Management have demonstrated no accountability for their sophomoric decisions impacting IT and related negative outcomes, their priority is tied to the quarterly earnings not cigna employees…

IT is primarily focused on India, and I dislike this trend. They are the main reason for disruptions in US work culture, often exhibiting micromanagement. Additionally, leadership, including directors and VPs, seems to be accepting kickbacks from managed services to bring in cheaper labor. I'm uncertain about what the future holds for American workers and the next generation. US jobs and companies are for US people not for Asians.

All I know is that I don't want my PHI offshored, personally. How bizarre.

I haven’t worked under any manager or director here that could navigate the most basic of UIs let alone tell me what polymorphism is. How can you DIRECT a team and not know the basics? I find it astonishing. The fact is — there jobs could be replaced by AI in a capable technicians hands. Drafts some PPs, write some Excel docs, easy.

@va To these so called leaders, prompting Copilot and claiming they are good at math = they are an AI or ML expert.

While actually being threatened by talented tech Principals who are the actual experts.

In the last year, IT has become a cesspool of upper management posturing to realize the cost savings of AI and HIH, and the middle managers doing anything to appease by being the "experts" at these new tools. The outcomes are being fabricated, exaggerated, and loudly advertised to support the cost savings goal... but nothing meaningful is getting done. Oh, and our members are paying more and getting less.

It's a circlej--k

@mp Regarding the HIRE ACT, I'm not sure how that is going to apply in this case as the HIRE ACT refers to companies outsourcing. In the case of Cigna, they are employees, which is why they may have unfortunately found a way to get around this act.

@mp Unlikely now. Now that JD Vance who is the Manchurian candidate of Peter Thiel and Curtis Yarvin is in office now they will likely encourage this setup. Research Dark MAGA and Dark Enlightenment and see that they actually subscribe to this mentality to keep their power.

This was who former FTC Lina K was fighting against.

i am so very much hoping HIRE act passes.

I am curious how they would remediate the offshoring almost all IT to India.

@av They probably are bringing their post 2008 recession old Hilton style of IT offshoring (without knowing much tech themselves) to health care PHI.

Gotta love that US PHI can easily be hacked offshore by any bad actor.

But DP go off king, keep offshoring.

It’s the Principal Technology Program. Details on iris. An advanced path for experienced technical individuals who don’t want to go into management to get to director level or higher.

You are so right. How disgusting it was when DP took David to India to celebrate sending our jobs over there. That's not what David should be doing. We heard DP went over there mostly to visit his family anyway. That's the buzz about the trip. What a waste.

@eg What is the PTP program?

by

Post ID: @ej+1ka23xm7a

I mean.... they laid off some of the top technical talent in the past few years. The PTP program isn't what it once was and it got gutted by Directors and up that saw influential Principals as a threat.

Management from Director up has been on a slide downhill for the past few years and it's now a cesspool of politically driven people that have little to no understanding of the tech they own.

@OP Eder was a stupid c and left that worthless sidekick DP to drive IT further into the ground. It was a great place to work 5 years ago. Now, DP and his Indian buddies are sending IT jobs to India with no ending in sight. Am I surprised it is so bad? No. Is it going to get worse? Yes. Pretty soon all the Cigna leadership will be Indian. Get ready for the transformation.
