Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

How can anybody think they are safe?

An honest question.

@ed Here’s another one that comes to mind when you think about the oligarchs running this country and people like Mike Sievert, Jon Legere, and the would-be oligarchs running this company.

“The sins of some men are obvious, going ahead of them to judgment; but the sins of others do not surface until later.” – 1 Timothy 5:24

Grace and peace to those just trying to make it in this god-forsaken land, and judgment upon those greedy, self-indulgent people who have taken more than their share and made it this difficult for everyone else.

@db It is interesting that this guy comes on here and constantly mocks Jesus when, “The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil,” which is a pretty good descriptor of how we got here.

@dd "Headcount Neutral" means across the whole company, not out own little organizational slice.

This isn't about being a high performer, those layoffs are in the past. This is hunger games and survivor combined...those who make to correct alliances i.e.kiss @$$ or throw your colleagues under a bus for self preservation, not to mention deception from corporate. I was let go in the Aug 2025 RIF. Our team was told by mgt that a reorg is coming and will be "headcount neutral ", then less than 2 weeks later, 60% were let go. May the odds be ever in your favor!!

We're not a business, we're a family.

@OP "Be safe" wtf do you mean ? Its a business and it necessarily has to adapt to meet changing circumstances legally, economically, and even politically. Customers numbers drop, fewer employees. DEI requirements imposed and then removed ? That whole ecosystem had to be hired and then relocated or fired. Acquire companies ? More firings for excess headcount. Start new lines of business that subsequently fail ? Hire, build, then fire and remove. You seek opportunities, but a lot of these new ventures are dead ends that will drag you down. You do what adds value for the company, its employees, and its customers, not busy work. You can work very hard on things that dont matter.

They got rid of many productive people last time, while keeping many lazy ones... if you are gone this time, take heart in knowing that you're likely productive but just a number that makes bookkeeping look good...

@OP Your job is safe if you are being productive and adding value. Only the worthless people will be canned.
