Thread regarding Gainwell Technologies layoffs

Why does everything have to be a last minute emergency?

We get deadlines dropped on us with no warning constantly. I'm so tired of scrambling because nobody plans ahead. This is no way to work. It's no wonder they have to do layoffs to hide the fact things are not going as well as they'd like everybody to believe.

@e8 Nearly all leadership at Gainwell is to blame.

Gainwell needs to be shut down. All money they have needs to be given back to the states they have been stealing from. And the leaders need to be prosecuted.

@b3 and @bz are right on the money. In many situations, the technical teams are clearly communicating up the chain the status of their projects. Unfortunately, it is falling on deaf ears as leadership seems focused only on making a date, not on taking the appropriate action to deliver the best possible (or sometime even a good) solution.

Lack of leadership vision. Based on my own experience, senior leadership seek first to cover themselves before addressing critical issues. Chances are, they were warned and didn't act accordingly.

usually because people don’t listen when an individual contributor raises a warning of impending crisis ahead of time
