Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

Whoever managed or designed LDAP or domain should get fired

that’s it. I lost access to VPN. Got instruction to reset my password. The instruction is sitting behind the VPN. WTH! I need to open a service support. Opened it, sorry it requires VPN. WTH!

I cannot reset the password with the last 24 or 25 times i have used. WTH! Does it help security? Doubt it

I have to do it every 3 months. That means I can reuse the 1st password after 6 years.

What such a stuxxd design!

@132 That too? I've noticed a couple of expired certificates recently.

@132 not shocking at all. Has the been escalated to Paul Duggan? I’m sure the finger pointing will start soon.

I can't believe this. Our public facing Microfocus support portal now has an expired security certificate and hampering customers from logging support cases.

@h4 They should be let go too, if they just keep lights on but don’t want to improve it. Similar like Twitter, when Elon asked why comment couldn’t pass 128 words, they told Elon it’s hard to change and it’s been like this. After one or three months( i don’t remember), users can write over 128 words. Yes, the guy who told Elon it’s not possible and it’s hard to change was fired.

We need this kind of leader.

IT is the blood of our company however we are diabetic and are losing more blood everyday. It’s just a matter of time before our heart stops ticking.

@fd Totally agree. Not only the password. The domain systems. There are over 10 domains at least. When I worked at Microsoft years ago, Microsoft only had 3 domains internally (not include Azure). When we required something, we got response immediately. In OpenText, terrible support. When requiring permissions, cloud service team su-ks…

I've been in numerous internal presentations over the years demonstrating best practices for security, while the company lives in an alternate dimension in what it implements.

They are absolutely archaic with their internal system management and have no consideration for the people that have to suffer using the systems.

@e3 That's what happens when infosec policy is informed by the editorial page of a fifteen year old issue of wired magazine you read at the dentist's office

Password change intervals have not been the standard for years now. It's absurd.

Just think about it. Your bank doesn't require it, nor does the IRS. Your mortgage company doesn't require it, neither does any of your doctor portals.

It's antiquated and causes more problems than it solves. Typical for OT's IT.

@a3 the executives think we work like in this video: https://youtu.be/xdN3lMqQbU8?si=qnw_uydD4tlxoD0N

So they think 5 people can handlec thousands of requests using our own AI.

They live in an alternate universe. Maybe they will see reality when everyone is back in the office.

A lot of this can also be blamed by GIS they are the ones that make these rules IT just has to implement them. During testing we asked many times for the password reset tool to be accessible via internet but was told no, same with all these d-mb password requirements if your password is now too similar to previous password it will fail, and it not giving you the reason is by design.

@a3 so those 90% of people designed this shut system and got fired? If that’s the case, they were deserved to be fired.

And the rest of 5 people haven’t improved it at all. They should be fired too

Good luck writing up a ticket. Recently I got asked if I still needed help on things I wrote up over 3 months ago. What a horrible run team!
