Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Not renewing h1b anymore?

Is it true there are no h1b renewals/extensions being done? That’s another way to reduce

H1B's are still coming into Ford at a cheaper rate.

Ford is not an American company and Bill Ford has sold Americans out!!!

His grandfather has a checkered past but 100 times the business ba--s as weak little simp Bill Ford.

@ds My boy. I definitely do not want to relive an experience similar to one I had here. Salute to you. Long story, but they sort of made it difficult to 'move on from them'. I think I accidentally reacted to something I was experiencing and the entire leadership cohort decided to teach me a lesson. I think the result was brain damage. Will try to never end up in a Ford-like environment again. In fact, I hope to make the world a better place after witnessing this underworld.

This whole ordeal has me thinking about my children. I don't want them to turn their heart dark from an experience like this

@dr

If you are at the beginning of your career, it's not the worst choice (for sure not the best). But if you happen to get yourself into Ford, you learn a lot about what you DON'T want your career to consist of. Good learning experience if it happens. You also know how to navigate that kind of environment should you find yourself in a situation that turns into a Ford-like one. Overall lesson: Corporate America hates you and they will replace you however and whenever they can if someone will do your job for less money. They simply don't care. No one is saying they should, just don't let anyone gas light you or label you a "job-hopper" for looking out for yourself. Cast those id--ts aside and ignore them.

@dq Should've warned me! Once you're got, you're got! I had nobody around me that could have told me that it was a bad idea, because the attendees of the meeting of the minds were all on the same page! Didn't know any better.

@dp I personally came here thinking my University had my best interests for me!

"Were there really no American new grads that could have done these jobs? I doubt it."

Of course there were plenty.

But would they want to work for Ford? I doubt it.

Why would any self-motivated younger one want to work for an outdated company full of bureaucracy and lack of growth opportunities? Plus below-market pay and minimum benefit? Plus having to relocate to the greater Detroit area and RTO 4, potentially 5, days a week?

Would you recommend your kids to work for Ford?

Half of my team is H-1Bs, and they are all entry level hires. Were there really no American new grads that could have done these jobs? I doubt it.

@dc it is easier for the H-4 EAD holders to get a job than than the actual H-1Bs. The H-1B needs some "specialized" skills, at least that is how it is supposed to work if companies weren't abusing it. The H-4 EADs can work anywhere and take any American's job, even if there are plenty of Americans with those skills. The H-4 EAD system should be ended.

Just wait until you read up on H4-EAD. Allows spouses of H‑1B holders with approved green card petitions to work in country. Just another way to backdoor people into the pipeline and vacate state-side Americans from consideration. Pay them as little as you please...

Big middle finger to the companies abusing this.
