Useless HR

People keep saying to report problems, but report them where? To who? All I've seen so far is that speaking up gets twisted back on the employee. Every single time. So why bother?

Surprised there hasn’t been a filed class action investigating the Speak Up portal.

Yeah there over 20 years and it is a FACT that speaking up to HR puts you on a list. intentional or not whatever the actual mechanism, I’ve seen SOOO many that complained come up on the next layoff.

If you are willing to put up with whatever and stay, then… do that. If not then just realize you’ve set the egg timer for working there.

So no HR is not on the employees side. Period.

HR will never help the employee and always the employer. I will only go to HR if I want to exit the company. However you do need to go to HR and file a complaint if you ever intend to file a complaint with EEOC.

HR protects the company. That’s their job. You should find another profession if you believed the other way around!

HR is there to protect the company, not the employees.

HR’s only job now is to lay people off. All of the real HR stuff is outsourced - recruiting, benefits, etc

HR is valuable - to the company. The minute you report on anything or complain, you can be guaranteed to be put on the watch list. I have never known anyone who has complained to HR and actually stayed employed at the company months later. Nothing is anonymous. HR only wants to be alerted on any potential lawsuits so they can get rid of complainants in advance. The minute you file a complaint, you will be written up for all kinds of petty "violations" that everyone else is guilty of. "Speaking Up" is especially encouraged when they are looking to get rid of people.

The Speak Up Portal is a joke. You pretty much need video evidence of the person breaking the law and a confession of wrongdoing. Even then it may not get acted on if the person is liked by their manager.
