Houston downtown parking garage nightmare

We've been stuck in the HOU150 garage for 45+ minutes. That me and about 100 other cars. Just trying to leave. Unbelievable.
Force everyone into a needlessly remodelled office with open-plan seating that strips away dignity and privacy—then schedule repairs on the elevators, escalators, and garage all at once, grinding facility throughput to a halt.
What are we doing? Why does everything have to be this hard? Why are we doing this to ourselves?

@e8
I take the bus and I have to smell the stinky Indians on my way home in the afternoon. Some of them are ripe by 4 pm.

@av There was an accident. When we left, there was a fire truck out on Bell. I don't understand why people are so butt hurt about this. It su-ked but things happen. It's Houston. We've all suffered the traffic nightmares. Chevron can't control everything.

They're opening the Clay exit from 3-7 now when possible to ease congestion.

@f6 Technically, we are in daycare. Lockers, no fixed desks, playing real life musical chairs. Pretty soon we (who remain after musical chairs) will all have to sit in a circle. Can’t wait until recess!

@f8 "Ride your bike to work. It’s not that hard."

Yup, since I live 53 miles away it will be a great workout, dodging criminal homeless on my way to work downtown at 6 AM.

Thanks !

And then remember, this is the same company that is trusted by investors to run multi-billion dollar capital projects.

It is your Children who are in day care, not you.
Grow up be responsible it's not for the company to arrange bussiness to suit your needs.

@dq Everyone is doing what works best for them, all variables considered here. My car commute is 12 minutes, whereas public transit would be closer to an hour (each way). The trade-offs are worth it for my time. In my vehicle, I can also guarantee it will be clean, comfortable, and I won't have to listen to other people's music or enjoy their body odor, amongst other things.

Public transit. Take a bus, ride a bike, hop on the train. Us europoors have been doing it for decades. Problem solved.

To whoever was playing the Jeopardy theme song and the Cisco hold music through (I guess?) a PA speaker on their vehicle: Thank you for the comic relief.

Oh no your poor children… give me a break. Manage your time, be an adult. Your kids are not an excuse for your lack of productivity. You could have parked your car and taken an uber, called the day care ahead of time, arranged for someone else to pick them up, etc. if it really means that much to you… use your brain, don’t be a sheep and stop leveraging your kids as an excuse for everything. I know your type.

The important thing is that all of them wave at you with a smile in the morning. Obviously is something forces they are being asked to do.

Also, what logic does it make that we now have unassigned sitting but there is assigned parking for so many managers?
When you go in 1401 Louisiana, all the assigned parkings (multiple floors) spots are empty. Talk about these managers coming to the office and the new “optimize real estate”.

So find a different place to park, other than in that garage.

There are about a dozen different parking garages within a 2 block radius from the office building.

Keep this in mind CRBRES ain't there anymore you have your sedesco less experience and demanding of more pay rate than fixing? Yeah now your getting it the end results oh being DEI. So question is start act like business people or continue the illegal emotional way up to you. Either ways the higher you are the faster you'll fall and not expecting the consequences.

Awful! How does Chevron get everything wrong all the damn time? No crash, no unusual traffic but certainly 12 security guards around.

It’s incredibly frustrating that I work a 6:30 to 4:15 schedule and need to depart the office to pick up my children in the Woodlands on time. Today I was 40 minutes late, my children were worried, and I had to pay late fees at two daycares. I understand if my own scheduling causes a problem, but when this company can’t even manage a parking garage repair, what are we supposed to do? I would hope for an apology email from them tomorrow as well as an offer to reimburse for excess costs yesterday, but I know that is far too much for us to expect. So sad how this company has fallen.

I think it had to do with the 1400 Smith lobby being closed causing more pedestrians crossing the street. That oblivious cop at the left turn under the skyring let's everyone and their dog walk across before a single car can turn. Ridiculous!

We couldn't even figure out what was causing the delays?? First time we have experienced that (even since the second exit has been closed)
