Anyone have any ideas what departments will be hit?

@dx my immediate team in Minneapolis is me, my coworker and our manager. Just 3 of us. There is another manager and 3 direct reports over in India.
@ds how many people are on your team if you don’t mind me asking?
@dr non competes are almost impossible to enforce anyway so don’t worry about that.
@dh would that include kids teams?
@dh targets owned brands are the one thing that differentiates them from Walmart so of course they would get rid of that lol. This company is so confusing.
I’m an L5 on the Enterprise Item team at HQ. Enterprise Item is part of Commercial Capabilities. We have counterparts in India who do the same work we do here at the Minneapolis office. I have a strong suspicion that my entire team is going to get axed. There have just been too many weird things happening these past few months for it to be a coincidence. Everything has slowly been adding up. I’m prepared for the worst.
@df not sure how target will “lead with design” without designers but I totally agree that many will be cut. There have already been reductions and many teams are operating with fewer team members.
Does anyone know if we “get out” of our non compete? It seems unfair we should have to limit job search when we have no choice in losing our jobs.
Merch includes sourcing too, which is a pretty bloated org (CTB, CTV, GSP, etc.).
@df yeah maybe they would only eliminate designers in departments where vendor input/national brands do most of the work? That kinda makes sense if the department is small too—only so many skus.
But yeah idk about associate roles. On the one hand they don’t make nearly as much money as an l5+, so laying them off might not actually be efficient. On the other hand if they are laying off “10%-15%” of employees at HQ as people keep mentioning, idk if there’s enough L5+ roles to hit that mark.
Maybe they hit that mark through a combo of L6+ roles and other redundant teams that could be shipped off to TII.
@d8 Designers also fall under "Merch". I foresee designers/engineers being hit hard, but remains to be seen what levels. Do they go after Associate-level or do they get eliminate L6s and higher?
Crazy to think that they can do without design as the company is nothing without designers and visionaries; but considering it's easier to ship things off to vendors to design, I wouldn't be surprised if they cut in-house design in half.
I’ve heard Merch but I’m not sure what that looks like? People have mentioned L6 and up, but to make an impact from a headcount stand point I also feel like it would have to include Buyers and Associate Buyers but idk. What other roles technically fall under Merch?
I do feel like Target has other teams with more bloat. I hear sourcing and some ops teams are over staffed.
I've heard Commerical & Merch will be hit the most but like everyone is saying here, no one is safe and all departments/pyramids will most likely be impacted.
Most ops groups should be looked at regardless of department.
