Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Do not let them take any more

Do you dread going into work every Sunday night?
Do you hate every single 1x1 and huddle?
Do you panic everyday you wake up?
Do you think about SF too much?
Is it affecting your health, personal life, marriage, kids and mental well being?
Do you feel empty every day you wake up and when you finish work?
Do you know this is not right but keep doing it everyday?
Do you feel helpless? Lost?
Does State Farm make you feel ashamed? I do!

Leave! Get out, trust me there is life after State Farm. That place is a very toxic cult and do not let it destroy who you are. If you have to stay until you find something else, f-ck them at every turn. Pay that questionable claim, don't put in any extra effort, f-ck their surveys and put it in the comments. Satan runs that place! It's not you, it's them! See you on the other side!

We are going to miss our growth goals this year slightly at were are around 450K new autos and expected to be around 600K. They expect to grow 1.6 million new autos next year and then 2.5 million autos the year after that. Back to their old tricks of understaffing every area, continuing to run off employees to keep expenses down and taking big losses to buy the business. They are going to get caught with their pants down if the market takes a dump and it will take us back another decade. These people running SF are basically criminals.

Actually I hope it does! One of the unintended consequences for large business is it will expose all these narcissistic CEO/Execs failures and toxic corporate cultures. They do not realize it yet but you may see a lot of them pull back on AI once they catch on. If the predictions are true and AI eliminates 50%+ of the jobs in the next 5-7 years, then you will need so much less leadership and be down to the bare essentials. Any failures will fall directly on them and they will not be able to blame the masses or use layoffs as a constant tool of fear, pressure, and intimidation to pad the Exec bonuses! Sure some will survive but again it will expose them like no other time in corporate America! Be careful what you ask for SF!

Don’t worry. Automation will take most of your jobs in the next three to five years.

No. because I retired early from my agency. After several years in claims, a couple in underwriting, and a few decades as an agent. Agency was fun for a while. Until it became a job where I got screamed at all day by people I hadn’t done anything to. Because the promise was not being kept and I couldn’t do a thing about it anymore.

I had this issue directly caused by a now lead data engineer/ previously data analyst promoted internally from a specialist position. Absolutely the most unqualified person I ever met but was really good in smooth talking and gaslighting people to get his way .
Knew absolutely nothing and if assigned a task would gaslight you into saying "no collaboration", etc to be shown how to finish tasks you assign to them.
I've honestly never seen something like this in other places I worked at, usually a manager would be proactive and remove them but he was so good in smooth talking that he would take tasks that other's completed and pass it as his own in 1:1s and even spread rumors about "working siloed" to get people on his side.
This was the time my mental health was declining and I felt everything you mentioned here, it really was harassment so that he could get his promotion and there are many in ET that do this. I hope I never meet people these in future.
