Talk going around today between Dallas and Atlanta is that it's cheaper to pay off Leg T union employees to get rid of them rather than keep them on the payroll considering high costs, high absenteeism, low productivity and trainability as well as non-collaberative attitudes. It's being agreed on by top leadership that it's much cheaper and far more easy to pay the termination pay per contract, and now that the watermark is no longer an obstacle, the first step will be to declare surplus which means VTP will be offered without a cap. This is expected to reduce the Leg T workforce by at least half. The remaining will be Involuntarily laid off by year end as all Leg T work is automated, outsourced and off-shored.

You too would want to be laid off so you could collect your paycheck for two years without working, then start taking your pension, 401k distributions and social security while also still getting much better medical, dental, vision and pharmacy benefits than your manager.

Enjoy your 90k after tax. Good luck finding another job with your zero skills, bad attitude. This the last of the jobs where losers can do nothing - play darts- and complain about a company that has paid you for searching the internet and writing your anarchist chronicles. Wonder why you will be replaced by AI look in the mirror. Best investment ever is paying to get these people out!

Most of the legacy T workers are not qualified for the new jobs anyway. Why ask them to do anything? You want them to f it up!

I hope for a VTP, but not expecting one. December 2027 would be perfect timing.

NTS working OSP are covering larges areas with 2 techs. When one is off it can he-l for the other.

Many if not most of us workers WANT to be laid off and the biggest obstacle blocking us from being laid off was the watermark so now with that gone, we will soon be getting our bigtime payout to leave the company. Many of us will get the two years paid vacation and then start taking our pensions, 401K distributions and our social security. And we get the good medical benefits - all thanks to our CWA union. Of course non-union people like boot-lcking managers will have negative stuff to say because they're simply envious or jealous.

The meaningless watermark is being removed in the new contract which will soon be ratified. We get $1k signing bonus and an immediate 6% raise. The best part is that now the company will be able to surplus us so we can leave with 104 weeks pay! We'll be celebrating!

@d5 The company cant offer it until it rectifies the watermark situation. It has a 2000 LegT watermark and its been under it for a long time. The company wants to remove the watermark this April with it's sh---y new contract that all LegT should vote down(Feel like having your job JOGGED to Georgia anyone???). If it passes, THEN it may offer 104 month VTP bon voyage pizza parties during LIMITED layoffs of course.

Why do you zipperheads insist on trotting this out there every couple of weeks?

Never going to happen. This isn't the 80's or 90's. Company is straight up broke.

I’m interested in seeing what happens. Union employees get paid to leave. Is the company up for that or do they take a hard stance during the next contract. Wireline will be gone by the next round of contracts. The company will have to make a move or hope everyone will be so old they’ll just leave out of frustration.
