Like many or most of us, my group continues to see layoffs. But I have seen no one be fired even though I think they could easily make a case for some of them.
Is this the norm in your group as well?

@OP I’ve been here a little over two years and have seen two people fired in my department.
Only times I've ever heard of anyone getting fired was if they repeatedly showed up drunk or stole money. If they want to get rid of someone for mediocre performance or some other reason they will do it as a lay off and claim it was random and had nothing to do with the actual reason.
@nd Richard Davis is on the board of Wells Fargo now. https://www.wellsfargo.com/about/corporate/governance/davis/
US Bank has absolutely zero compassion for anyone that they've fired, laid off or however you want to label it. They drop you without a thought no matter how long you've been there. Seniority doesn't mean anything. I felt like age had something to do with my being let go. I also think age keeps me from being rehired. I guess I could color my hair, but don't feel like I should have to. Their 5 core values are a joke. They do not believe in them, they just want others to think they do. It's all propaganda! CEO, Gunjan whatever her name is is an awful leader. She doesn't give a cr*p about employees. Let's see if Richard Davis wants to come back. Seemed a bit better under him.
Hi, recently "fired" USB employee here. One of the reasons it's not heard of as frequently as it occurs is because all exits have the same label - termination.
Fired = terminated
Retired = terminated
Resigned = terminated
Forced retirement or resignation = terminated
Language used by managers is also intentionally vague. "Let go" = Layoff? RIF? Fired? Position eliminated? Who knows!
Humiliated, dehumanized and stigmatized employees typically don't offer up many details regarding their dismissal either. They're mostly likely still spinning in circles from all the gaslighting they went through leading up to their termination to even fully understand why they're being let go.
The degree of potential liability USB faces as a result of your termination (individually or in aggregate with other similarly situated employees, i.e. individual lawsuit or class action) determines how they structure your forced termination and how much negotiation power you have, if any.
With all that being said, I was at USB for 17 years and I've also witnessed bad actors being escorted out the door, rightfully so. Corporate is even more prudent about ensuring those instances are concealed from employees and the public.
I’ve seen numerous contractors get “fired”. In all my years with the bank, I’ve seen 2 FTEs be fired and several who resigned after being strongly advised to do so.
@d5 same in our team. Those who resisted RTO were let go as they are not meeting their assigned goal. In such circumstances I doubt the bank paid them severance (layoff). It would have been a termination (firing).
I don’t know about the people here who say they’ve never seen others getting fired but only in our small department, 3 people were fired in the past year.
Not sure.abiut that but a few departments have seen people let.go for not adhering to RTO.
I know a person who was marked to be fired. That person was a professional bully. It took 8 months and it was STILL part of the layoffs. So a year of salary for a complete po-p head
Never seen anyone fired in 30 years, but in last 2 years, see people lay off every 3 months, mostly shipping jobs to other locations or countries
15 years at us bank I’ve seen nobody get fired. Heard about a few but it’s almost impossible. However layoffs happen all the time
