Where or how do we return our laptops? Do we initiate it or does our manager?

Check the separation checklist doc on the severance portal. It has all the links to request return boxes.

The FAQ says that we are to mail our badges back. I confirmed with HR that they are expecting us to do this on our own dime. I don’t care how much it costs, it’s complete bullsh-t!

I still have my laptop from 10 years ago and waiting for someone to pick it up.

@d3 how do you download work history and send it to ourselves? There is no way you can send emails with attachments and copy stuff on a pen drive. If you have any instructions, please share.

If it's in person in Basking Ridge, it will be a humiliation ritual. Ship it all back if you can.

Don't do an exit interview.

The box they send you for a monitor is a complete joke! My monitor BARELY fit in the box, and I had to disassemble the stand from the monitor, and ship them back in 2 different boxes because they wouldn't fit in the same box! I actually had to tape together TWO boxes for my monitor stand...what a joke! Not well planned at all!

@OP Perhaps you missed it, but The Management Severance program FAQ Document clearly covers this. #56 in the document has a link to request the document return form for a label for shipping to return equipment. I would just make sure that you record equipment serial numbers, etc. as well as a take a pic of what you are shipping back so you have it for your records. Hope this helps.

Just be careful to document your return (serial numbers, return receipt, etc.) In case the company later on mistakenly comes back indicating they don't have your equipment.

You don't want that holding up your severance payout from Verizon (which is the typical threat companies make in this case).

Reading is fundamental.... apparently not in this case.

Good luck with that. The labels I received had tracking info for different equipment. I found out when I called to get a missing label. I read off the tracking and I was told that I am reading the tracking number incorrectly. I sent screenshots of the labels. I have not heard back from anyone so, yes it's a mess.

This is so typical Verizon, right until the end. Let's tens of thousands of us send messages to HR. Or let's drop thousands and thousands of laptops off at our local IT all in a couple of days. Why have some kind of organized plan and voice that in advance? That would take forethought and giving a shft about the employees about to get bombarded. Caring about how many $$$ worth of equipment is about to get stacked up, damaged, wasted. Nah. Let's wing it. Videos patting ourselves on the back for what a great, compassionate V-Team we are - Now THAT'S a worthwhile use of time.

The paperwork is very unclear it just says to return the equipment but not where

Just another part of this poorly execute layoff. Why are we having to chase down managers for this? , who by the way when I did ask also had no clue and didn't seem to care. I plan to leave it on my desk, it is their problem not mine.

So you didn't ask your manager or HR yet

This was something that was unclear. And yes - I read through the originally-posted severance materials. I was waiting to see what others did, figuring there would HAVE to be some clearcut plan rolled out for this with ~15,000 of us. The materials indicated some equipment might have legal reason not to be cleared. It was all somewhat vague. So are people generally just shipping back to their manager? Are we expecting some kind of acknowledgement that our equipment was returned, or do we figure Verizon doesn't know what they gave us to begin with? ie. Par for the course

Check with your manager. They can likely email you a prepaid shipping label or labels.
