Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

Still Waiting…..

I’m still waiting to hear my fate. Anyone else in the same position? Do you think they will hit the January 31 deadline for notifying everyone? Or will this continue to drag into February?

@p8 PO here- they seemed to confirm that what the FAQ shows for declining means no severance but I would still check with lawyers as there is a lot of factors to consider and the company will post these to dissuade any challenge or questions.

@p8 I'm waiting to hear back from SLS and FLS in writing whether expats do or do not receive severance if we decline an offer. Will update once i have something to share. Personally I'm still going to be consulting with lawyers regardless as we expats have other things to consider besides just the severance and would want to understand all considerations as best O can.

@p0 I hope that’s true. But I can’t find anything anywhere confirming that.

@p0 you should get a letter by end of January. If not, suggest you follow up via email and get something in writing. Don’t accept verbal bs

@dy I am also on expat assignment in US and still waiting to here and I was told this by my supervisor. So I'll follow-up with them as "apparently " he claimed they updated this stance for expats.

My role impacted by lab closures announced 18 months before rest of the Transformation announced. 18 months to find me a role and they could not. My replacement has been hired and fully trained. Yet, here we are, last week of January and I have not received any information and it's not coming today either.

@j1 My supervisor has confirmed that he still hasn’t received anything regarding my status, though he’s expecting something this week. He also confirmed that, as far as he’s heard, communications will be completed this week.

@hz Have you heard that officially? The last official communication I saw said that everyone would know their status by January 31. If that is no longer the case, they should at least have the decency to let us know there may be delays.

Most will hear this week. Some may be delayed into February.

Maybe I'll find out informally at Heritage Park tonight...

@dn And this is what happens when people insert their undocumented "understanding" of a situation. Made even worse of course by reference to the FAQ where this information does not exist in any form. Very helpful.

@dn where does it state this? I don’t see any FAQ’s regarding expats since Oct 27. I’m an expat and my offer states that I will not get severance if I don’t accept my offer. I’m on my 5 day clock now.

@dn Thanks. I’ll take another look. I don’t remember seeing that.

@d6 check the answers on FAQ I'm also an expat and my understanding is they had to backtrack on expats rejecting offers. We still get severance is my understanding.

@cx Unfortunately, I’m an expat so if I decline an offer, I don’t get severance. I’m really hoping for forced retirement. I’m not quite at an unreduced pension. But, with severance, I’m close enough. Worst case for me would be an offer, especially anywhere outside of Alberta.
