Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Houston unassigned and RTO 4 days

Is Houston completely unassigned seating now in both towers? If so, brutal to absorb that and RTO 4 days all at once. How is it going for everyone? Strong reactions?

@yy My dude, that’s where you are going wrong. We all should be loading up on the Taco Bell, the Mexican refried beans, the ultra strong espresso, the cauliflower and broccoli salad, and so on.

They’re demanding that we all sit together in the open? Fine by me. I’ll be crop dusting that open workplace from morning ‘till night, making any of my colleagues in a fifty-foot radius wretch.

That’s right, my bi--hes, I’m gonna bring all of my authentic self to work, including my foulest farts, been saving them just for you.

Toot toot motherfarters! 💨💨💨

@nt Cube height is intentional because they want to see you. At least you have cubes. Our location has long rows of desks so you can hear and see everything your neighbor is doing.

If they simply raised the walls in the new HMP cubes by 9" so you don't see your neighbors head, if would su-k a lot less. Take up no more footprint than the plan. As planned, it would tank productivity and cause burnout.

There are still floors laid out with individual, assigned offices. When we were moved onto one after the reorg we were told it wouldn’t last but no one gave us a timeline.

The elevator bank to the new unassigned floors in 1500 is a complete cluster now. They more than doubled the number of people who need to use it but decided elevator modernization should happen sometime later. Good luck being on time.

@cx
oil leaders at every company -

  • work remote
  • hold multiple jobs at once
  • openly discuss and compare and negotiate their pay
  • are never subject to outsourcing or streamlining or modernizing

rules for thee, but not for me. the days of leading by example are over. the days of looting the company as it dies with no long term plan for their continued existence are here. as long as the dividend remains they will get away with it and blame you

I talked with people at the credit union in Houston and they commented on a large portion of people moving to Houston to work at the office, including the largest number are Chevron employees moving to Houston from overseas countries on cross training assignments with H1B visas for 7+years assignments.

it is humorous to see the number of people that cannot find a seat / table in the cafeteria now.

The HMP team is full of incompetents who don’t understand how to do any planning whatsoever. You asked “is the whole tower unassigned”? It would be nice if they actually said it one way or another, but the guidance is “every team can just make up their own rules”. For real, my group and another team both emailed asking for clarification and we got differenting responses. Complete mess.

@ct ABU has 4 days a week. The usual people still only do 2 to 3 a week.

There are still whole groups in Chevron that are 2 or 3 days in. Don’t let them fool you.

Plus, most of the execs are not in 4 days a week. They can work from anywhere. Imagine that.

It’s a joke to make us quit. No other country did RTO

The new office is a marvel of modern design — ergonomic spaces, smart screens, seamless connectivity everywhere. Ironically, the only thing not seamlessly connected is half the GOA leadership, who still approach the simple act of plugging in a laptop like it’s a deepwater exploration campaign requiring a full risk register and a pre-drill hazard workshop.

And let’s be honest: if connecting HDMI is already a heroic challenge, imagine the odds of them navigating even the most basic geoscience concepts. Watching some of these leaders interpret a seismic line is like watching someone try to read hieroglyphics upside down — with the lights off — while insisting they’re providing ‘strategic guidance.’

Leadership, of course, is another fascinating frontier. We keep hearing about ‘vision’ and ‘alignment,’ yet the only alignment consistently missing is between their confidence and their actual understanding of the subsurface. It’s almost admirable how boldly they make decisions with the same level of geological insight as someone choosing a wine based solely on the color of the label.

No. Execs still have an office. Rules for thee, not for me.

Attitude reflects leadership
