It doesn’t matter to who are already let go, but it matters a lot to who are there absorbing heavy workload and on call’s. Leadership can take some more stupid decision on AI data center expansion and betting on OpenAI. As you all know OCI is outdated and old fashioned cloud it can never win cloud race.
Oracle will again do layoffs for employees who has RSU vesting in upcoming quarter. Please create public pressure and sign petition and change RSU vesting to quarterly.

@cr on call for sure, my manager is covering all on-call weekends
coding - in a sense, they are cording skills for Codex for various areas for automation (our VP does it personally), so they are not in apps codebase yet, but they are automating everything outside of it.
It’s a great thought. But clawing back RSUs prior to vesting helps pay for AI infrastructure - doubt Oracle will do much to close that window of opportunity for them.
No one is safe, I heard that Managers are also being asked to code and handle on-call. Is it true?
I think you are grossly misjudging our bargaining power. Have are you actually worked with latest models through Claude and Codex? Have you seen their improvement for the past 6 months?
80% unemployed is coming for tech sector, coding profession with all junior and medium software engineers are dead. Arch and principal engineers will likely follow in a year or two.
At least that's corps perception, they are squeezing the last drops out of us, before we are fully replaced, they won't give us sh-t ever again.
The current RSU that have been granted will never change. The terms were established when they were granted. New RSU grants could be changed but good luck getting companies to do this. They would be more likely to revoke the benefit. Compensation is declining so it could happen anyway.
