Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Entire warehouse is getting let go Dec. 7th

Warehouse operations are to be handled by the third party company starting Dec. 7th. Was told that things will continue as usual until Dec. 7th when we are no longer employed by Pepsi. 2 weeks before Christmas. We are being offered/given a severance package. We've been encouraged to apply at the third party company and have been told we'd be given "priority" in the hiring process and wouldn't have to do an interview. We have some guys who have been with Pepsi for 40 years and are being laid off. Location is Everett, WA. The new company will be running things at the new Marysville location starting Dec. 7th.

Any more facilities that have been taking over by third party?

Depends of what type of franchising you’re looking at. The current franchisee may not want a third party running their warehouse and would need to build a warehouse team from scratch. And if it’s a spin off the new company may not what it either. PepsiCo has a 5 year plan that just got extended to an 11 year plan. I personally think they are going to see it out. They will throw Elliot a different bone. Remember one PepsiCo.

@bx full on Elliott plan would be then to franchise out the bottling plants...and that is almost surely coming if this happening

@n1 This means they have the flexibility to franchise at any time, should they deem it necessary?

The question I have is will this endeavor mirror the MEM -> PES model whereby while, yes , technically a separate company - it’s the same blokes operating in their silo … essentially compartmented to allow for a sale should that be deemed advantageous

What plant exactly?

Does this indicate they’re planning to franchise the entire operation.

Pepsi can’t manage so better to give it to someone who can, or we hope can. Fingers crossed

All locations are next to transition. It’s only a matter of time before the entire warehouse for Pepsi is managed by a third party. PepsiCo is getting out of warehouse management across all locations. Started with the biggest and hardest to manage and then to the medium size, and the smaller will be the last to go. They’re all going to be managed by a third company over a short period of time. Frito’s already gone that route and Pepsi thinks it’s in their best interest to do so. Be ready it is coming.

This happened in AZ last week too.

Which location is next?

This is just the start for warehouse and Distribution Center consolidation over the next few years. All run by non-PepsiCo employees.

So these 3rd parties will bring in thier own people and anyone in warehouse is gone? Like loaders, checkers etc?

Sounds like Ramon is bowing to Elliot. Part of their plan. If we own the warehouses, they'll soon be sold off to Third Parties.

@OP all locations warehouses will eventually be run by a third party. Frito warehouses have been run by a third party for some time. Part of the 2019 long term cost savings goal.
