Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

10% Headcount reduction

Because the company wants to keep up with all the other tech and telecom layoffs, and they will blame “AI” like the others did.

Managers will need to transition to blue vest Walmart bots. Good luck, have fun. AI

@bt , scrapping the numerous L3 & L4’s would greatly reduce “cost”…far more than cutting a plethora of us “worker bees”.

@bt guess who was a finance major!

@bw this is the same logic used for RTO. This is why the company su-ks. Leadership is clueless with zero control.

@bx What is funny is that the paid troll guy is only accomplishing driving up the thread engagement and making this post show up on more search engines when people ask about AT&T. That is how clueless our leadership is. They put this guy up to trying to fake consensus and only succeed in making the company look even worse to the public. McStankenfresh probably still use AOL.

8 years ago they were talking about 10% reduction too. This is just a "cosmetic" cut.

@bw Its the same troll posting over and over about bloat. Probably a bot trying to pump the stock price.

I wonder where all of you (or the 1 or 2 of you that post over and over) work when you talk about all of this bloat. My team legit has more work than we can handle. I’m all for getting rid of people where there’s nothing to do. But to paint all organizations with that same broad brush isn’t realistic.

“really surprised it’s not more.”

There will be more cuts later on, this is just Wave 1 for 2026.

10% cut from 129,000 won’t get to sub 90,000, which the top figure has talked about. Time to scoop up L3/L4s in masse. Could be just the start..

T has way to many people. They could get ride of 50% of the workers and 75% of the leadership and this company would be more productive!

I think a 40 percent cut is better

No layoffs in the C-Suite, it’s the “get over” life!!

There is too much headcount at every level. It’s time to rightsize. Getting rid of all RTO noncompliers and virtuals should be a first pass.

@a2 “T is bloated”
You left out “at the leadership level”. With that included, your statement would be 100% accurate.

@a2 yes. The number of duplicate jobs and people pretending to be busy doing the same thing as other people is nutz. Cut cut cut!

T is bloated and has had too many employees for decades. A 10% cut is a good start.
