Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Stop Selling Out Our Future

Friends,
Across forums, industry conversations, and personal exchanges, one theme keeps repeating-
Offshoring and particularly to low cost labor markets like India.

Let’s be clear:
Our operations are built on national resources—oil, gas, and energy that are the wealth of nations. These resources, while vital, come with environmental costs we all understand. And yet, instead of converting this sacrifice into livelihoods for the people of the very nations whose resources we exploit, we see record levels of offshoring.
This is not the same as IT or banking outsourcing. Natural resources are not just corporate assets, they are national wealth.
To offshore the jobs tied to them is not just cost-cutting, it is economic plunder.

The scale of this shift is hidden. Official headcount reports disguise the reality. If we include not just GCC centers but also third-party service providers, the imbalance is shocking-only a fraction of roles remain in base countries, while the majority are quietly shipped overseas.

In reality, No MC, C-suite, or shareholder vote should decide who benefits from national resources. That right belongs to the people and their governments.

The problem is, most people, even in government, don’t know the scale of what’s happening. It is happening quietly, and rapidly.

That’s why every one of us has a role to play. Even small actions matter:
• Write to your representatives.
• Raise awareness within your networks.
• Push for transparency in how resource-linked jobs are allocated.

This is not about one company or one industry. This is about ensuring our resources create futures for our people, not just cheap profits offshore.
If we don’t act now, we risk handing away not only our jobs but our children’s right to benefit from their own nation’s wealth

This is all Hews fault (HP). Ultimate Israeli spy previously in government. Made us buy Noble.
Dudes been here since the O'Reilly days. Isn't that suspicious? Been around for three chairmans and continues to dictate what we do quietly.

The squirrel does not direct the tree how to grow, nor what fruit to produce. Neither does he tell the farmer to manages the orchard how to harvest the crop. You are just a squirrel, get your nuts while you can. In other words, prepare for hard times, the future of industry will not be kind to humanity.

@bh You are correct CVX is also asking all their consulting companies to show them how they can best outsource the cvx jobs they are consulting on. HOwever, CVX is so stupid - the consulting companies have been outsourcing that they can for at least a decade and just reaming the profits off cvx = a little late to the table and btw - all the outsourcing has to be double/triple checked because the ind$ans cant think but only do what they are told to a degree

@a4 More importantly, the OP understands how our representative democracy works. I COMPLETELY agree with the OP here. in fact, I am offended that the company that I spent over 30 years helping to build would turn it's back on the citizens of the very country that made it the great company it once was and then have the gall to leverage the protections afforded it by being a US based corporation. The corporation, CEO, ELT, and BOD should all be deported out of this country for treason. Our social security and Medicare funding are facing pending and sharp drop-offs in future funding and this company is shipping the very jobs that help fund these programs overseas which affects EVERY US citizen now and in the future. I understand how capitalism works, but I also understand what it means to be a good citizen of the country where you live. I believe our feckless corporate management understands this as well otherwise the numbers of jobs wouldn't be so obscured from public (or even internal) viewing. I also agree with comment that most of our government representatives are weak, but we are not limited to putting the heat on just those politicians that represent our own districts. Let's also look for voices in the media who can also provide some exposure. Our management's behavior is despicable in this regard and all of them should be stripped of their US citizenship and shipped to India since they seem to like it so much. I am disgusted with the company that Chevron has become and ashamed to work here.

Agree with your content. However:

"Write to your representatives"

That ship has sailed and assumes we have representation, when we absolutely don't.

OP does not know how capitalism works. You have become too expensive for the value you provide.

I absolutely agree.

And btw, let’s kick out American companies from every country in the world as well.
