@r7 If they made EV batteries cartridges like cordless drills or cordless electric lawn mowers, they might have a chance.
Can you imagine trying to cut your lawn, the mower runs out of juice and you have to stop for 6 hours while you charge the battery?
How about a carpenter that had to stop work for 3-4 hours while his drill battery recharged?
Lawnmower and drill makers have figured out what carmakers haven’t.
Its a matter of time, as long as Jimmy and Doggy keep the brainwash to the board and investors going. Their bubble will pop up with a historic failure in records.
@r4 That was sarcasm. EVs are an id--t's bet until we can top em' up in 10 minutes and make the true cost to own less than a gas vehicle.
This might be true that they know what they are doing in a world where right is left and left is right. Here in the real world we call it incompetence.
Show me your sales numbers. Where are they? What are they contributing to the bottom line? Once you find them, how long have they been doing what they are doing?

The current Lightning is not a true Model e product. Therefore your argument lacks merit in the context of upcoming BEV Model e offerings.

@me This is the most short sighted comment I've seen in a while. The intent of these new savior products is to insulate our company from political maneuvering in the future. EV is the future like it or not, this is the way forward. This is our Model T moment in modern times. Thank god you are not running this place.
@kv Ford already shuts down the F150 Lightning plant. Rawsonville battery pack assembly has no production. BOSK KY supplies batteries for the Lightning has no production. The writing is on the walls, and it's going to be ugly.
Model e is in excellent standing with the highest corporate levels of Ford. Alleged layoffs are just that, alleged.
To avoid layoffs, we will make the EV1, under license. Anything, to avoid layoffs.
That's all fine and good. But what country are we talking about? Anywhere but the US will add failure cycles to an already limping system.

Lightning and the successor, P800 will be scrapped. There is no market for these anymore. CE1 is the only priority for a low cost EV platform and I expect the launch window will slide making Ford extremely late to the party.
I work in Model e. No layoffs. Model e is the safest organization within the company with the most job security. Model e leadership knows how to properly manage its resources.
