Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Would you go back to Target (redo of 2015)

In 2015, I heard most team members laid off like 60-80% had to be hired back. Are the odds high that we will be asked to come back again like before 3-6 months from now in 2026?

Would you guys come back to target if part of layoffs this year or it wouldn’t be as chill as before since CULTURE su-ks now compared to back in day???

The thing is, many people in Minnesota seem stuck — both geographically and mentally. They complain about their jobs or companies, yet few take the initiative to make a real change. Let’s be honest: most would gladly go back to Target if given the chance. Comfort and familiarity often outweigh ambition or curiosity.

Instead of seeking new opportunities or challenging themselves, they stay put and rationalize their dissatisfaction as “just how things are here.” This comes from someone who’s left both Target and the state — and has seen firsthand how freeing that choice can be.

@a3 Yes, after about 3-6 months, division heads can submit for headcount, some of those people were hired back and almost everyone wanted back in.

Given how bad the job market is, I’d come back if asked and didn’t have anything lined up.

@a3 a lot of Manager level people were cut and some of them were actual SMEs who were the only ones who knew the job. So their direct reports were left holding the bag and were inexperienced. This happened in Legal and other areas. A lot of those people had to be hired back so the company could function and not have a major issue. Really stupid on leadership’s part. I hope they did their due diligence this time on what people actually do and didn’t allow McKinsey or whoever to just slash by title. 2015 felt like DOGE, hopefully they don’t do that again. That time it was 1700 people and 1400 roles. This times it’s 1000 people and 800 roles so maybe they learned.
