Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Seeking Advice From T-Mobile Business Peeps

Hello,

I apologize if this is the wrong board for this post. I currently work for Verizon Business as senior account manager. I am considering transferring to t-mobile business as an account executive on the smb team as a req will be opening soon due to attrition. I am currently making about 120k per year but want to leave due the extremely toxic management culture I inherited from our recent round of layoffs. My question is mainly, can I expect to make around similar pay at 120k at TFB on the smb team or will it be a pay cut? I greatly appreciate any insight have a blessed day.

Look to VARs/VADs/Resellers/MVNO space. The industry is moving in that direction.

@ba The team AE role is very dynamic. As in it is different with every TFB team based on what they need. Ask the hiring manager what the expectations of the role are and how they see the role fitting into the current construct. You can certainly make 100k in that role also.

@be so apparently I do with my b2b background…they just laid off one member locally on their business team due to low performance and another one just quit bc of the new changes. They do not want to bring someone over from retail as they don’t last on the business side. They want someone who has b2b sales experience and they like that I can speak to historically high performance with a competitor in the b2b space and would come on board with a pre-existing book of business of potential accounts to port over. The only people at t mobile who have a skill set I do not have would be a current smb or mid market ae who are already high performers that would be willing to relocate from another state to apply for this open req…….so with the local competition I would say I’m considered a competitive candidate especially compared to those recently riffed on a local level due to poor performance.

@OP Do you have any special skills that no one at TMUS does not have? TMUS just laid off thousands of people. TMUS could have offered this role to one of those who got laid off, if they really cared about these people At least one of them should have skills for this role?

@b4 I really appreciate your response! What is your opinion on the team ae role? Can they at least make 100k a year? Or is it bogus splitting all of your sales?

@ab You can make that. Keep in mind this information is based off of last year’s SMB setup. There were lots of changes this year. My advice is to negotiate as high of a starting TTC (total target compensation) as you can. This will help you obtain the $120k you are wanting.

For example: if you coming in with a TTC of $85k it will be easier to get to 120k versus starting at 65k.

@a3 OP here…sorry I guess I’m not asking about the culture or anything I’m simply only curious about the pay. I’m trying not to give too many details but was just put on a final written warning and about to be fired. I’m really just inquiring about pay only not culture or layoffs or anything else. I’m aware of the recently layoffs and new ceo at t mobile.

Anyone else able to let me know if it is realistic for me to make about 115-120k on the smb team at t mobile? (Smb not micro)

Tmobile is currently the same sh-t show. Toxic work environment, hostile work environment. We just had a HUGE layoff after the Sr Leadershit team said we are already way to lean. Bunch of stuff is getting outsourced or AI. Stay at VZW until laidoff and the look so you will get a package from there.

Just my opinion and as we know they are like buttholes. We all have one and they all stink
