@aa There are only about 1300 GT FTE's that are actually physically at PHK

@b3 It serves multiple purposes, one of which is avoiding disclosures of specifics (avoiding having to disclose the age/gender/payscales of those impacted), it serves as an additional severance for the workers, and most importantly, it serves as legal protection since signing the agreement, you are signing away your right to sue for alleged unlawful termination.

@b9 Generally, yes

Workers who primarily travel, who are outstationed or whose duties involve work outside the employer's primary work sites are considered to be assigned to the single site of employment to which they are assigned in the employer's organizational structure, the home base from which work is assigned, or the home base to which workers report.

Does remote count as a “single site”?

A Nike spokesperson said the company is not announcing impacts of its layoffs by team or location, but did indicate the latest round will not trigger a mandatory mass layoff notice. Federal law requires large employers to give notice if they plan to lay off 500 or more people at a single site.

@b3 nike is on record with media that they dont need to file for this wave as less than 500 are from PHK site. All oregon remote and air mi are coded phk so that means under 250 from oregon will be impacted

This is assuming they are following the law of course

@az oh interesting, so they can do it after next week, that way the damage is already done, I suppose it's the bad press they are trying to avoid?

that 2 months is a pretty costly deal to save bad press, or to save employees for a moral low.....ha, can't get any lower!

@aw Nike still needs to file one if over 500. They just get around not needing to file it 60 days ahead by keeping employees on payroll longer

@aw not with the 2 month buyout, where you stay on the company dime for those 2 months, then severance kicks in

Nike would need to file with the State of Oregon if they are laying off more than 500 employees in Oregon, so the PHK count should likely stay below 500

@a2 using these figures as reference

~1400 layoffs total in ops, ~250 out of airMI as of Friday

1400 - 250 = ~1150 layoffs for GT (assuming no more airMI cuts)

They want to consolidate to PHK/ITC, so ~700 outside of the US already

Assuming every other non-US tech center is shut down, that leaves 450 in the US, or about a 13-15% shave in the US

@ae right. Assuming there were 200 total between ATC and PTC, that leaves 800 impacted at PHK.

I hate to see more cuts. This is really tough. I’m saddened to see what this company is going through. At the same time, that size an IT/Tech org is way out of line with our org and business climate. We can’t afford it.

Email implied the closing PTC and ATC so I imagine all engineers based out of there will be impacted

3300 in the US sounds reasonable. Which means 35% will be let go this week.

Wow. 1 in every 3 people is going to be impacted. That is huge.

3300 is PHK only or includes remote?
