Thread regarding USAA layoffs

CIO cleanups

Any trickle down effect for this? Looks like some people on the list is a surprise.

@b8 I was impacted earlier this year as well. Agreed, no bad comments or public words. CISO was transparent and fixed things. Made folks accountable.

@bq maybe you are being sarcastic… but USAA does all of this! Project Plans, change control, etc

Some guy, whose name is pronounced almost the same as ‘ten-yeck,’ was terminated, and 3 other useless VP's. I guess it is 'gra - fin' the most efficient way to get his own folks

Which company still uses Waterfall these days, nobody. Project Managers and long delivery? Oh no! Decelerating speed of value to business. And multiple projects going all at once, no horizontal planning, is a setup for failure.

@b6 as someone who was also impacted in January, yes, you are able to look externally for another role. The only thing you can’t do is “bad mouth” USAA or talk about your layoff meeting with anyone during the 60 days.

Hmmmm. Waterfall and AI are a great match. Hmmm. Reminds me of Larry Bud Melman.

Heard the CISO is a goner. He’s been here for just over a year and will probably tell us it was his choice. I remember him saying he would only be here for two years and that will be his excuse. He is a te---r and many of us will be glad when he and his cronies leave the building.

@b0 are you able to disclose if you were able to actively search and apply externally during the 60 day period? Did you have to wait the 60 days to officially start the new role?

I was in the January bank layoffs, it was a blessing in disguise! I wanted to return, but nope, got an external offer for a larger salary and took the severance.

While I would not wish being laid off on my worst enemy, the Business Agility group has made us anything but agile!

culture & behaviors are for the peasants. The new leader is currently exempt from all standards of behavior and professionalism. It's a bold strategy to burn the house down while telling us to keep it clean.

Layoffs in Tech Org this month? Rumors have been flying for April layoffs right after the January one.

Same as it ever was. New dude makes declarations about inefficiency and silos, makes changes that don’t make a difference. Goals are made and then slowly stop being tracked. Repeats every 2-3 years. Anybody actually excellent at steering the ship would not be wasting time here.

More than one replacement are contractors or tied to organizational change management. Layoffs are coming.
