I relocated to the hub based on assurances of job security and professional growth. Despite these commitments, I have now been laid off. It is deeply concerning to see management decisions that appear to disregard the well-being and stability of employees’ lives.

@vz, yes I believe they will put some money towards you relocation back to where you came from, but I'm too lazy to go back and find the paperwork for that.
@n1 Interesting, I double checked and mine is definitely 2 years. I will say that the paperwork they initially gave me during the 30 day decision period, said one year, then the final paperwork said two, which I was kind of pi---d about.
There is no rhyme or reason on how they displace team members. I was at a hub and was laid off. They are now scrambling to find groups to perform my role in supporting various departments. Enjoying the time off!

TY for sharing. Relocate then the pivot was my biggest fear. Glad I didn't. After over 25 years, I knew I was on the list. When it happened it was to their advantage. Take this time to unburden the toxic last 6-7 or so years.

I don't trust anything HY does. Verbal, in writing, signed in blood, doesn't matter. They'll change the terms whenever they want, for any reason they want. They are lying sc-m.
@b2 As per my signed agreement, I only have to remain on-station for one year to avoid paying back any relocation funds.
The writing has been on the wall since Shart took over, can't trust anyone in management. For the most part, management don't even know what is going to happen. I relocated myself to a new company after two years of interviewing. Staying for severance was not worth the Shart Games.

We in corporate America are nothing more than minions to our corporate overlords, my friend. At places like Wells Fargo, managers and execs, who mostly are mediocre at best, don’t see us as people — just pawns on their chessboard. You bring better ideas, do the hard work, improve processes? They’ll gladly take the bigger slice of the pie while you get crumbs. Show a little confidence, question a decision, or dare to push back? They’ll hammer you down and “put you in your place.” Only their chosen favorites get a voice. The rest of us are just servants in suits. Keep your head down, or they’ll whistle and replace you with one of a million H-1Bs waiting on the sidelines.
Location strategy in WF is a sham to replace you with Indian H1bs. They, unlike you, are just happy to put their heads down and work. They don’t question nothing. H1bs will resettle to wherever they are asked to move. Exactly what the corporate overlords need.
Social responsibility? What bird is that? 80% jobs goes to India? Who cares? Corporate overlords are still earning millions, getting paid enough to sustain their 3 generations while, you friend, are living paycheck to paycheck.

I have an amazing new employer. If they wanted me to move to another site I would insist on certain agreements in writing before doing so.
No boss is able to make forward looking promises about retaining a job or down the road promotions. They can certainly advocate on your behalf but even senior leaders get their hands tied.

The fun part is, it was all intentional and planned from the begining..They want to cause as much suffering as possible so more people will quit without getting their severance. Enticing you to relo and then downsizing you anyway damages the survivors morale much more than just a regular location strat layoff would have.

I am relocating and received the official offer to relocate. Yes if they lay you off within the two year period you are obligated to remain w/ them for accepting financial assistance, you will receive severance and you do not have to pay back any funds received for relocation.
If you voluntarily leave within the two years after relocating you must repay a prorated amount of funds received within a reasonable agreed upon amount of time.
That is how it's structured. There is no guarantee you will not be laid off at any point in the relocation process. Though you would hope for this not to occur.

If you didn't have it in writing you never had a commitment. Basic common sense really.

I would also ask if you originally were offered relo which you accepted or if you moved on your own accord thinking it would save you on the long run?
