I'm am immigrant so I already have a rental house back home (still renting here) and I have an HYSA here that pays $500-600 of monthly interest.
yes, of course get a side gig; it's a way better use of time that doom scrolling or watching the latest TV slop
buy stocks, properties, drive uber … I do all of those 3 things
@OP As far as I know, many people already have some kind of side job. Some are realtors, some are loan agents, some run after-school tutoring programs, some have a coin laundry business, some own a gas station, and one even holds two full-time jobs simultaneously at both Intel and Cisco.
Stand on a street corner, that all the skills you have working at this shitholeplace
