@az your severance is paid in a lump sum with no guarantee of employment later, so you can collect it at the start of your separation date. Verizon doesn’t block it either and accepts the filings as they are made.

Anchovies!

@a5 Unemployment is only a few hundred dollars a week. And that doesn't start until the severance runs out. Sigh.
The more they layoff, the more the stock goes up, the more dividends I get. It's that simple.
@a2 I love the pseudonym SrDirector for someone posts known false comments.
Unless of course you are either (a) not a Band 5 or (b) on the list and therefore haven't been told yet.
Either way, good luck to you, and let's chat Thursday.
Spare us the RIF drama. When you’re still employed on May 8th, what will the excuse be and the new date?? 🙄
I’m being told it’s more focused this time after reassessing business needs post 2025 layoffs. Grapevine I’ve heard is that this round is closer to 4k-5k, but that may still be devastating in some groups. Nobody wants to fear-monger, but this is the reality of things now. Prepare your résumé, cross your fingers, and see if you have a spare first-born to give Dan.
@OP Rubbish
So many people on here kept saying it was fake news and the layoff wasn’t happening. They are in denial or have their head in the sand. It’s better to know so that you can be prepared.
Godspeed to everyone … Layoffs can feel devastating but there are also those who want to be laid off because Verizon has become intolerable. I hope it all works out for you.
everyone knows that there will be more lay offs. But lay offs is happening everywhere. where do you go. at least you will get severance and unemployment if you are laid off
It's def happening.
Fake News. No layoffs. Stop spreading lies
