Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Which orgs/teams are hybrid/remote?

I know they exist. I see the people in webphone. So, why are they the exception? I see job posting with “5 days in-office”, but clearly, that’s not always the case. Applying internally, are all the jobs genuinely gonna be 5 days in office still?

There are so many opportunities I would love to see through, but I am not gonna commit to another job with 5-day mandatory office. I can’t do it anymore.

Partner Solutions = mostly remote. And those who aren't in a hub just get the MFW/MSTW occupancy indicator.

None. Unless you're up for some Monica Lewinsky type of stuff.

Selective enforcement. Same as every other Policy. Rules for Thee is the reason AT&T has fallen so far in the past 30 years.

Cuz you are going to move to another position in T that is Hybrid. Not unless you know someone high up.

Sales are one day a week, some same sales roles depending on org are remote. Integrated Sales are remote.

@e6. Not sure about Legg Org, but the “Second Most glaring is a level 5 in non hub St. Louis with zero reports there.” Cameron Coursey - CC6508

“Most glaring is a level 4 in non hub Florida with zero reports there.”

Name or ATTUID?

Mary McCarthy in Legg org has 2 developers and a business analyst working remotely in Florida. They have to badge into an AT&T store once per month. I also knew of an L2 or L3 in MN who could’ve stayed remote but chose to relocate to a hub in 2024.

@bt

Jeremy Leggs team, mostly engineering, cybersecurity and IT professionals.

Not all. Depends on locatation and whether they have destroyed enough of the office to cram enough people in some offices yet.

Definitely preferential treatment in CSO. Most glaring is a level 4 in non hub Florida with zero reports there. New hires being assigned to managers not there which "supposedly" is not allowed but is regularly being done simply to build up enough presence to allow justification for higher up to move back there or eliminate pre baich legacy sites (everyone knows he only wants people he used to work with or for). Even inventing a new location is not consistent with consolidation into hubs.

Do as we say, not as we do.

@bt This is absolutely correct. I know many that are still 3 days a week in the Legg org. T

@b9 Okay, Sport. Yours is that one post that screams of ignorance. 1% of my after tax bonus is more than I spend on gas in 12 months. Not an L3, and I'll be in the office every day before giving up a penny. Giving advice is not your forte.

Jeremy Leggs team, mostly engineering, cybersecurity and IT professionals. They need competitive people for those areas, so they are hybrid 3x a week. How do I know? Go to Alpharetta on Thurs-Fri, you wont see them there. Office is almost empty

@aw Sometimes being a good manager means not taking a bonus for the good of the company and your team. P.S. most of us would happily give up our bonus for virtual status. It is peanuts until you get to L3+ anyway.

@ag My offer letter said 3 days a week, but when I accepted, the hiring manager said 5 even though it was addressed during my interview. Still looking!

“ Being a good manager is all about knowing when to ignore HR.”

Cool.

You know when they DON’T ignore HR?

When they don’t get a bonus. And yes that’s a real thing.

Your group isn’t immune or special.

There are some sales positions still being posted and virtual, but very few. Most that appear to be hybrid to the in-office observer are still 5 day slaves, their team is just not enforcing the policy because it is bad business and their managers have ba--s. Being a good manager is all about knowing when to ignore HR.

You’re looking for someone to tell you can work remotely.

You’re not going to find that job here any longer.

WTF. L3 terminated because I would relocate to hub location. Didn’t matter. Very thankful to be free!
