I see it is encouraged to limit the number of internal job application to 5. Anyone knows what will happen if I am applying for more than 5 positions at the same time?

you can submit more than 5, just click the warning and immediately submit again.
I wasn’t able to apply for more than 5. I had to withdraw from a previous submission to be able to apply for something else.
where I get annoyed is that recruiters/hiring managers don't update the status of applications, and while I can always withdraw, sometimes months will go by with no movement.
As a manager, I could see what each person posted for in the last 12 months and their performance ratings for the last few cycles. I tended to pass on people who posted for many random unrelated jobs as it looked like they were posting for anything and hoping something stuck. Multiple job postings around a skill or field of work doesn't concern me.
If you apply for more than five the job posting closes and reopens in India.
You spontaneously combust
@av unlikely, but the recruiters will be able to see that you're spraying and praying rather than targeting a job you supposedly like and think you're a good fit for. That may lower your chances with that recruiter.

You can apply for more than 5. once you apply for >=6 you will get a warning indicating they recommend 5. Click okay to that message and then submit the application again for it to go through

The system won’t let you. It will make you withdraw from one of the other five before you can submit the new fifth.
