My termination date is 5 days before my vesting date. I want to request that my termination date be extended to cover the vesting date. Any suggestions on how to go about this?

MANY are in the same situation.
The date was chosen for many reasons,
including that.
@an In my old org RSU's grants were awarded in September, shortly after focals were completed. Other groups might do it differently.
During last year's RIF I was on Garden leave until Sept 22, and did get last year's vesting RSU's, though I still left over 100 grand on the table.
I was truly surprised by the generosity last year. During previous RIFs what I observed was you were terminated the same day, and everything that was unvested went away.
@a1 WARN triggers based on the number of employees affected at a single location and doesn’t apply to remote workers. How are you so sure you are “entitled “ to it?
@OP Wake up. You have been fired so there is nothing to negotiate (except the amount of severance if you have a good reason and a good lawyer),
Isn't 5th of every month considered as vesting date ? If that is the case, considering they have given 10 day notice period, does it not cover the vesting period.
I assume they don't consider laid off date as the termination date.
That's the whole idea. To lay you off prior to vesting and save more $$$$. You can ask but ut is basically at will employment, non negotiable. Sorry and best of luck
I am sorry for all who lost job. anyone looking for h1b sponsorship employers or perm employers or salaries check -> you can check h1btrends.com.
Did they give 10 days notice period ? Is your vesting date beyond those 10 days ?
@OP
I was in a similar situation...unfortunately you've no options, sorry.
Good luck. I lost 2317 RSUs that way. Tried to keep them during EVP 1:1 exit call.
The whole idea of the layoff is to do before the westing date. Try to write to HR or contact a lawyer.
That happened to me over 10 years ago. I think their point is to save money. Im sorry.
Not generally; I’m sure that’s not a coincidence either.
That said, make sure you’re paying attention to notice/WARN date. They only gave me 10 days but I’m entitled to 60.
