Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Has anyone in EMEA been hit with the RIFs?

I haven't seen/heard anything hitting EMEA just yet and its just a waiting game which is not ideal

@nb Where does this information come from?

In NZ they cannot just mass layoff people, they are required by law to provide justification and targets, so local office can counter propose and it lasts 2 weeks. As part of justification they reveal overall Fusion target to cut 10% of global workforce.

Fusion disclosed it's total quota - 10% globally. It looks it's universal. However, it doesn't mean it will be evenly spread. Fusion is completely eliminating some Pacific locations.

@g0 I never heard of anyone negociating their redundancy package.

Choices are, as far as I know, either accepting it and moving on or involving a lawyer and threat to litigate by which you'd risk defaulting to statutary redundancy which will likely be lower than what Oracle offers.

But I might be wrong and just don't happen to know any cases of people who tried and succeeded to negociate.

@g0 what sector are you thats affected in the UK? I'm in UK and my US manager knows nothing about EMEA/UK layoffs sadly

Been told by my manager that EMEA layoffs are coming, at least for OCI.
I’m in the UK and almost 100% affected. It’s dispiriting.
I’m not sure what the process is for UK vs EMEA, or what severance is offered for UK. If anyone knows what is offered and if it’s negotiable I’d appreciate it.

Still nothing in Oracle Spain/PT. Has anyone reached out to HR ? Any feedback from anyone? Iberia, UK, or just EMEA - any news?

@c6 The deal would be that you voluntarily resign and in exchange you get more $$$ than going through the standard "made redundant" path.

Not saying they will do that, but they did give Americans about 6 weeks of garden leave, which is kind of unprecedented for O.

@c6 In the Czech Republic, the law is changing from 1.1.2026 and if an employment relationship is terminated by agreement, the amount of support will not be reduced as before. In this case, the compensation will be the same as in the case of dismissal for organizational reasons.

CZ: with the two month notice period + severance 1-3 months salary, they would have to offer really a lot for me to sign anything to terminate immediately -- and even then watch out the deal has to have in its reason for termination - org. changes or the government institution will not give you full support in unemployment here
yay

@bq I am thinking that O will offer lots of extra $$$ of severance (what some in the US call a voluntary separation package) in Euroland if you agree to resign and leave quickly and quietly.

Just a thought.

@bk I am in Czech Republic. Employees are protected from being fired without cause. If it's an official workforce reduction agreed with Labour office they have to give 2 months notice period and 1-3 months severance package (depending on period of work in company). But usually companies try to lure people into singing mutual agreement for some extra severance. Not sure if it will be the case here.

My suggestion to anyone affected in EMEA is to sue the company. In some countries, Oracle try to disguise the layoffs as per 'objective' reasons, when they are not. I have already a lawyer, preparing my complaint in advance.

@an same, the wait and constant uncertainty is driving me mad each day i'm just watching the 'oracle general' slack channel numbers dwindle down waiting for any kind of news in UK/emea

Is it official workforce reduction? I wonder what they gonna do if I am not signing a mutual agreement. Finding work in November market will be tough.

Next month, October. We already have EMEA employees hit by the round of RIF last week here in US. A big one is coming on EMEA.

I saw some comments regarding EMEA RIF’s as it’s expected next rounds (Oct? Nov?). They are further in this queue as in many coutries Labor Law is more respective for an employee than in US. But have no idea which countries/teams it may impact.
