Curious if anyone has any insights as to which areas or roles are likely to be impacted the most? The only one I heard was analysts but other threads here seem to be saying Merch.

Distribution will be realigned as many of their merit teams are over staffed and under worked.
@a5
What about L5, L6 report to L7?
Strategy and growth are going to get much smaller
@b0 Owned brand product design (and packaging) OBPDP Is the full acronym. Really rolls off the tongue.
@a1 What is OBPD?
Have to wonder if marketing and creative will be impacted, given they just restructured over the summer?
@OP does anyone have any information on if this will be a chance to layoff remote employees? Especially with the RTO mandates, it seems like remote employees might be an easy target
@a1 they’ve been doing quiet and slow rolling layoffs since August of 24 in PD&D. There were a few larger layoffs of around 10-20 people and then several other layoffs of just a few people at a time. I unfortunately was one of the ones impacted this spring.
Is product safe?
Any news on GSCL?
@a1 it’s probably closer to 75 or more at this point. My group had 21 people and I know of at least three other groups of layoffs from that dept in the last 18 months.
@ar maybe around 5 but not everyone in target or TES received it. I can copy and paste the email. It talked about taking out the complexity and focusing on growth, this was necessary.
@aq when did they send that email?
What's interesting is the VP of TES sent out an email telling people, even L2s to check their email on Tuesday morning for potential invites. Now it's a waiting game. Wish they just did this on Tuesday instead of sending out an email today. I know people are filled with uncertainty and the email about checking your email, even if you're not working lacked empathy. Why would we check our email if we're not working or on vacation? disappointing.
@ag IA's are crucial to the business and inexpensive (no offense). But like other comments your may be combined to reduce leader headcount. Disclaimer: I don't have insider knowledge
does anyone know if site will be impacted?
I was told the same thing. Merch is gonna be hit during this "trimming down".
Also, "unnecessary layers and overlapping work" makes me think if its gonna be Managers and teams building internal TGT tools could be impacted.
@aj Inventory
@ah IM?
@ag Everything is a maybe. Rumor is planning and IM will integrate. Don’t know the specifics of “integrate” but could be rolling up under the same SVP.
will IAs be affected?
@a9 Depends on how you define responsibilities. L6 ICs often produce something and are SMEs in their respective areas. At least in my org, very few managers and directors are crucial to work continuing.
@ac Target Enterprise Services. Used to be FRS
@aa what is TES?
@aa what’s TES?
@a7 Which SVPs? Departments not names. We have tons of SVPs and some calendars you can access and others have chunks of busy time.
TES is impacted. VP sent email to let people know that they need to check their Outlook Calendars on Tuesday (even if they aren't working) for any meetings around these layoffs. Michael sending this email today was cruel and unnecessary. Now you have HQ Team Members worried until Tuesday. Nice of the VP to send that knowing his job is secured.
Why would L6 with direct reports be laid off vs L6 ICs? Don’t the L6 with DRs have more responsibility on paper?
@a1 Which Sourcing teams?
Enterprise insights. There were dozens of 15 min private meetings back to back on the SVPs calendar for Tuesday. Now are not there.
Based on news articles only, it seems Merch is a target and L6 and up, mostly management. If your job has seemed redundant that might tell a story. I’d be concerned about a role in “ops” of some sort as well.
L6s with direct reports
@a1 can you expand on what periphery support roles means?
@a1 have you heard anything about IAs?
Merchandizing, Planning, some Sourcing and a few from OBPD (which has been quietly gutted over the last 12 months with 30 -60 laid off per month since October '24). plus quite a few periphery support roles
