People talk like it's the most important thing, but nobody talks about what it costs you. The sleepless nights, the constant knot in your stomach, the way you carry the weight of this place into every part of your life. So yes, having a job is good, but don't tell me I should be grateful for something that's making me miserable.

@OP yes you do carry the weight/stress of the job the whole day. the pros/cons of being employed need to be evaluated in light of the AI and the unknown future especially if you have some savings that'd last a few years.
@ad i didnt have any sleep issues when i was briefly unemployed maybe there was a bit of financial cushion for a couple years
It is exhausting and a lesson in teaching yourself how to put work in its place and family/ fun stuff in another. I got so tired of Sundays and evenings being clouded by work stress. The cr-p will still be there in its same form whether you worry about it or not. It’s just a job- a means to an end. If you are looking for purpose- this is NOT where it’s at. Hang in there.
I try and indulge in my hobbies and hopefully it can become my side hustle and generate income for me.
Passive income helps.
Your inability to handle things is not everyone's inability.
First step is to replace 'you' with 'me/my' in your comments.

But WF will replace us with H1B and OPT visa, it's already bipartisan now.
@a2 Being stuck few to no options is a big part of what makes it miserable...
as someone recently let go I can tell you I am getting much less sleep now than when I was working.
I hear ya and most people can’t just quit. The job market is terrible and the stress is exhausting.
Well apparently it isnt that bad or you'd march right in there tomorrow and quit.
Not having a job will be 10x more miserable
it's beyond toxic
