Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

I've been at Truist four years and I think I've finally hit my limit

The problem is the limit doesn't matter because the mortgage doesn't care. The kids' school supplies don't care. The car payment doesn't care. I have to make a specific number each month or things fall apart. So I keep coming back even though I hate it. Even though I'm exhausted before I even walk in the door. The worst part is knowing I'm close to breaking. I've never been someone who loses their temper at work. I'm the steady one. The reliable one. But lately I feel this rage building. A manager will give feedback and I want to walk out. I'm scared one day I won't hold it in. I'll say exactly what I think and then I'll be gone anyway, just with no paycheck. I don't know how much longer I can do this.

Have you tried 2 weeks on 2 weeks off quiet quitting?

My advice is to take some time off. I also agree with the person who said to find an outlet- like a hobby, etc. Try to hold on till you hit your 5 years so you can get your pension. Then after 5 years start looking elsewhere. If you find something outside of Truist, go for it.

You didn’t ask for my advice so here it comes (sound like Truist management??): find an outlet. Since you can’t quit or retire, and knowing the bank will not change, I suggest a hobby/escape/interest completely different from anything you’ve ever done. Something that requires practice, and time, preferably outdoors. Seriously. Birdwatching, mountain biking, roller blading, gardening, sailing lessons…. Something that takes your mind fully off your job. I did this when in a similar situation and it helped. The bank is not going to move; you need to go around it and show yourself that you control things, not them.

You are toast. Bad future for you unless you are customer facing. Maybe wait tables or do something fun. AI will take your job soon. Banking is all online now. No live checks or need for tellers

I already had my moments with the new management. The lack of accountability and the picking and choosing of rules when convenient is too much to keep up with.

I've already started my move outside of banking and corporate America as a whole. I don't see things getting better and this manager loves the control and manipulation game and is an expert in knowing how to come up so close to that boundary line just enough to not cross it.

If this is the "leadership" Truist wants, fine. I don't want any part of it.
