Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I've been thinking about leaving for a while

Then I did some research. I looked at every company in our industry that I might apply to and I found they all have the same problems we do. Same complaints on the forums, same issues with management, and same uncertainty. So what's the point? I'd be jumping from one sinking ship to another. For now, I'm staying with what I know.

@ep you’re at another company now, but you still come here. Sure.

The job market is pretty horrible right now. If you plan to leavr, My advice would be to look into smaller companies.

If you plan to stay, my advice is to upskill in skills that are not specific to a company. So when you are ready to move you can work at a larger pool of companies.

I'm at another big company now and the issues are very similar to what you see at T.

If you badge in at a different building to collaborate for the day, it's on the Presence report as a 'not badged in at assigned building' day for HR and execs to monitor. That's micromanagement at its worst. Takes the joy out of trying to maintain hard earned relationships.

AT&T compensation is bottom of the industry. This post is HR propaganda.

@ab wait a minute, what’s WFM? Work from Mobilehome? Sorry, in management we call it WFH, “work from home”. Anyway your statement is a fact. Whelp, time to get back to the truck and harness up.

Really....It doesn't matter what the topic is there will always be people who drag up RTO! Like 'We could have world peace and a reversal of the warming of the earth, all we have to do is get rid of RTO and those presence reports...'. You folks need to see a mental health professional or better yet, just quit!

The things is not to sweep yourself into a silo niche corner and render yourself unemployable outside.

Hmmm. Sure people complain about their jobs no matter where they are, this is true.

But nowhere else has 5 x 8 RTO with rigorous monitoring. And a culture ranked in the cellar of all big corporations. And a bald narcissistic twot waffle of a CEO constantly telling you to quit while he tries to make you so miserable that you do. And a stock that has incredibly lost half its value over the last couple decades during the strongest bull markets in history.

Pretty much everyone that I know that has left has done better both in terms of quality of life and pay.

I can't imagine a motivation for making this post other than as a backhanded plea for talent retention from HR. No, other companies are not just as bad or worse. Make some friends. Ask around.

Wait a minute, I thought VZ and Tmobile were begging for applicants from T. Offering WFM, more $, and a fantastic "work environment"
Why are you staying here?

The funny thing is all the so called “leadership” needs to do it revert back to 2-3 days RTO and end the presence report tracking and morale would improve instantly. It would also help with attracting outside talent as hybrid is the industry standard. It’s too bad Stankey is too selfish and blockheaded to admit he was wrong and make the change that could save the company. He would rather let the company fail entirely than admit he was wrong and make any improvement to the working conditions here.

Some left even as late as a few months ago on their own terms (tired of 5x8, FTW, politics, favoritism, rigidity, being treated so poorly) and found good and even leadership positions outside T. Some even left without a job in hand. This is for non-technical roles as well. And not very young folks (some in their 40s, some 50+). Salary comparable (at least 1-2) & WFH. Some took at 10-15% salary hit but they didn’t mind- they don’t have the daily commute & nonsense that we put up with here.
So yea, @OP your experience isn’t the same as others. I encourage all of to invest in building skills and leaving. We have all overstayed.

They may have similar problems but at least they are not 5X RTO and ranked at the bottom for culture, best places to work, AI readiness, talent, etc. It quite literally does not get worse than here, I can promise you that. #fact

It's an industry thing for sure. Su-ks when we all realize we are just a utility. Nobody raves about their electric company, and our industry isn't far behind
