Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Where else can I get paid this well?

I am a P4 at the top of my salary band, making $175k base and about $50k bonus the last few years. I’ve been with the company awhile so I have great PTO, and I have always been a top performer. The recent culture shifts and in office expectations are a drag, and my workload has greatly expanded as we have eliminated many people on my team due to location strategy and not replaced them.

What are the odds that that I can find a job at another company that pays this well but has a better employee centric culture? Where should I look?? I’m in a moderate COL market.

@ab Apparently it depends on the role and department because I have not seen the evidence that they pay more. Also, people here are assuming all Leads are the same pay scale and they aren’t not. It depends on what dept you are in. Also the pay scales vary with the levels. In Ops a P2 is a Lead, P3 is. Sr Lead, P4 is Ops Manager, etc. BEAs are the same levels as TLs but their pay scale is also slightly more. Makes no sense at all.

@OP Depends on your actual experience because I see MANY people at WF getting higher roles where they aren’t remotely close to meeting the qualifications. These people will struggle to find jobs elsewhere when someone looks at the lack of experience on their resume. Remember WF hires the best performing person in the interview not necessarily the best qualified. Something to consider is room for growth. If you’re at the top of your pay scale with nowhere to go but you can go somewhere else with a little lower pay and have room for advancement it may be worth while.

It all depends on the job. Our P3s make a little under $300k total compensation, but job requirements are very high and technical

If you really are only a P4, you're out of luck chuck. As others said, WF pays more already. No one is going to pay near that much for your experience unless you're are severely overqualified and/or took a lower role at some point to wind up in this situation. I'm in comp and very few P4 roles (like quant) have a payband AND bonus at the regular COL pay that high.

I was at Wells, but left. I am equivalent to a P5 at another company and don't make that much money. And the offer I got was the BEST at numerous companies I talked to. Especially in this market, you will not get anywhere near that at a P4 level. If money is the only important thing stay there. If you are fine taking a pay cut and dealing w less BS consider leaving.

Not really in my case, 58 years old and have a pension from my state gov job (my first career). WF salary was paying my kids’ college tuition. Yearly bonus was going into my retirement acts. But bi-weekly check amount and my paltry bonus compared to WF does su-k. But remote is good and the company is much better, so all in all not bad.

while all p4's are leads (p5 is st. lead) not all p4s have the same salary grade, not to mention different amounts depending on location. I too have discovered WF pays on the high side. I turned down a job recently because the pay was much lower than I was anticipating. I'm sure I'll live to regret it given all the sc--w tightening around here. can you find something that pays the same or higher, probably, but figure out what the minimum you would accept is and go with that.

glad to see so many people discussing 'lead' as its been known to block EMF and WiFi signals, that's why it was removed from paint. you're gonna wish you could have blocked it after all these years being microwaved by invisible frequencies.

This is my position too. I'd go elsewhere but I doubt I can replace the salary or PTO. So its better just to milk it for as long as possible, and lay up enough of an emergency fund to ride out a big gap in employment. I'll take the reduction when I have to, but not voluntarily.

TBH I would actually take a sizable reduction in compensation if it came from a company committed to WFH arrangements. But I doubt I can find a place where I'll have 6 weeks PTO from the jump.

@c9 remote or not, that's a life changing reduction.

Seems low for a P4. Must not be a highly valued role. Good luck finding more for your skill set.

I was laid off several months ago due to location and had the same worries. I can tell you I've found a great job. I'm 100% remote, the pay is better, however medical benefits are worse, 401k is worse, but it's way worth it not dealing with the daily threats.

Folks, I was displaced in Feb. Sr. Manager earning low $200’s. I was able to tap into my network and land a job within the 60-day notice and negotiate start date to April. I had 7 months of severance, so was able to double dip for quite a while. But took a $70k paycut, so yet, very few companies pay like WF does. I did land a remote role, so it is what it is. Much better company, too, so all in all not a huge deal. Job market su-ks right now, so good luck to all!

@ab I'm a Sr Lead and I make 70K a year less than OP and half that bonus. Also in a moderate COL market.

Selling feet pics maybe? I am in the same role so salary is accurate. If money is your main driver- it might be tough to find this elsewhere. I look at times in life where my salary was a lot less and you know what? I was happier! So my car was cr-ppier and I didn’t have cash for the splurge things, but life was not worse. Don’t just focus on the money- that will ebb and flow in your career.

What do you mean by « Are you a Sr Lead? Because if you’re making this as a Lead, that’s nuts.« ? Is the person paid too much?

How do you know your pay band?

Are you a Sr Lead? Because if you’re making this as a Lead, that’s nuts. The short answer? Wells pays about 20% more than other companies. You either need to su-k up the changes or take a pay cut.
