Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

You are getting recycled by design - Nike is a cult

Nike is an eloborate blend of MLM & ponzi scheme.

They do know that they still have the brand name and a lot of clueless young people being exposed to the woke coolaid.

They indoctrinate you into the cult during hiring, serve you the coolaid.

First you feel amazing, you feel you belong and that you live in disneyland.

Slowly in your 2nd/3rd year you start to realize the defects, meaningless promotions, no career advancement, complete lack of accountability and a culture of retaliation.

Than you start to see the RNC mind dressed up in the "woke" clothing.

You start seeing that leaders dont give a cr-p, they dont care about serving the shareholders or the consumer. They are only interested in keeping the ponzi from collapsing while they enrich themselves and their close circle.

It is a small club and you aint a part of it and never will be.

Every quarter they drill on you, blame you, subjugate you to BS performance reviews.

after 5-10 years, you start getting disillusioned, the same problems that you spotted while you first joined is still there. Critical functions still lack headcount while billions are channeled for resume fillers for certain leaders.

At that point you need to be managed out and recycled with a fresh doe eyed new grad that thinks Nike is a serious business.

and the cycle keeps going on until the ML & ponzi hybrid collapses.

this is a warning for the new employees.

We were in your shoes once,

We once bleeded orange,
Now we are only bleeding.

There is no reason why Nike, an sports apparel and marketing company, needs a tech organization as large as it is. And to think there used to be two tech orgs at one point. Just setting money on fire.

@aa fully agree. tech may be a sinking ship in general, but the bow is dipping below the waterline at Nike. we'll be back on this forum in a year when we go through another massive layoff. Blame AI, blame ITC, blame shifting consumer demand. Ultimately it doesn't matter the reason because we are seen as a cost center by EH, and we'll continue to be for the foreseeable future. It's best for everyone to realize this and look for greener pastures

Just reading the post the past few weeks on here made me realize a few things:

  1. People joined Nike to never seek another job (ie: safety)
  2. Focus more on fun Nike rather than business Nike.
  3. Lost their edge want to blame someone.

I understand to be angry, I understand what happens when you’re a brand new grad and out of a job. I understand what it’s like to be here at this company and give it your all to end up kicked to the curb.

The problem is we all assumed what this company was. We all wanted it to be different than the rest of corporate America. But it isn’t. Nike does have more fun than other companies, when the time is good. However, the time isn’t good. The reality is we’re in a DS moment. We’re structure for growth, we’re growing at low single digit rates, shrinking in others.

When I first joined at Nike, I was told “I can be here as long as I want, Nike never fires or layoffs people.” Or “I was the best talent and all Nike talent is the best.” I smelt the BS years ago, we were just living in a high moment.

you know, sometimes shoes just don't sell

new grads in technology should position themselves into growth companies

it's all autopilot from here on out folks....itc that GT business more and more

for those left, this is a stern blow off the bow

you have 1 year to find a new job or start something on the side the produces income, whatever it is, just know that your days are numbered at the swoosh.

don't be the one back on this board looking for answers and wondering what just happened

the signals could not be louder, don't sit back and wait....unless you are that close to retirement, fine, great.

anyone else, which is most people, you got some leeway, don't let it run out!!
