devops is not considered "high value" work. Any "ops" work is considered repetitive and can therefore ultimately be automated. Perfect candidate for complete AI automation. Ie, check quality/uptime/performance/stability metrics.
Anyone still in devops needs to be working on AI driven automation platforms. Then, take that experience and do the same with the next operational platform. This is the type of high-value work that Oracle now requires.

@ak Back end of August (when #watercooler was still there - I heard Oracle nuked it) people were posting they were let go. I looked them up in Aria and they were almost all devops. CM's organization. It almost sounds like they started there.
Unfortunalely, many longer term employees are not adaptable enough to survive the transition to the new Oracle.
Are all Devops jobs replaced by AI at Oracle?
As I have seen few devops laid off.

Instead of hiring and firing , why don’t they just reorg the ICs, instead of firing them and then interviewing new candidates for the same level. That’s sad!
@5, these are not performance-based. Well, SOME might be, but while we don't know for sure what the end goal is here, they are restructuring. Some jobs are just deemed unnecessary, other jobs, they decide they don't need as many people; those layoffs could be performance related. I guess AI is supposed to pick up the slack

@a2 however , shouldn’t it be based on the annual ratings that just happened? Performance based . The August ones were random but I heard the November ones are controlled my the VPs and managers based on ratings.

Do you really want the answer? In normal times, no. Someone newly hired would never be let go. What Oracle did in August however broke all the norms and rules of how they've done it before. So yes, you could very well find a 15 minute 1:1 scheduled in your calendar for a Tuesday in November with your manager. If you're young and sharp, you'll find another job quickly.
Absolutely, Oracle is not a place to have a career. Just have a backup plan. Layoff will occur not only in 2025 but in 2026.
