Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

advice copying work files

With potential layoffs next week, any advice on how I can save work files?

Heard IT can provide access if I download my files into a folder and make a note of it.

Will downloading a ton of files right now alert IT security

Just take pics of your laptop screen with your personal phone or an old point shoot camera. Then use some AI thingy to create pdfs and transcribe text. That can’t be tracked by the CIS ge----o.

Security 100% knows of every file copied from a desktop computer and virtual machines, tracking the source and destination, regardless of the destination being another computer, server, Box, google, etc. All of it.

Best recommendation I can offer to use a Box folder that is in some way marked as personal, and make darn sure everything in that folder is not related to Nike work products. You can get the contents of this provided to you after exit.

There are ways to do it, but this is the type of question you don’t ask on a forum, lol. Especially one that we all know guest monitored.

Are you stupid? Read the comments here.
Just because you have access to Google drive or anything like that, does not mean they are not watching.
You are running inside NIKE's VPN.
Whatever you upload, they will know.
They will have a list.
They will have a copy.

OMG. People are stupid.

Upload the files to box and share a link with your personal email and download them on your personal computer.

What about actually personal files we might have? Eg professional development artifacts, notes about contributions, etc. Is there an avenue to request that content later and/or safe to proactively transfer?

@a9 Better to create a personal box folder as then you aren't reliant on someone copying it off your local harddrive (or hoping crashplan works)

When you get laid off you no longer have work files.

Move to a desktop folder “personal.”
Request it on exit.

Security can see every external source a file goes to and will review EVERY report and provide to former manager and/or Legal if you take a single Nike file. You also risk losing any severance or package. They don’t mess around with that stuff. Not worth it. You would be surprised how much they can see and monitor on files and messages.

They can go after for printing a document and can tell you where and what printer they used even if at home to do it.

Your files are Nike property. Be smart.
