Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Severance in the US

Severance packages in the US have been consistent over the years: 2-4 weeks plus 1 week for every year of service, capped at 26 weeks. Plus one free month of cobra.

Garden leave was a new benefit in 2025, which kept the dejobbed on payroll and benefits for a few weeks. No idea if that was a one off or if it will become standard.

Putting this up, useful info. Found here: @bj+1kkhyebqg

@gy In the US, the same as someone with 1 year. 4 weeks, I believe; but that could change.

@f5 It was about 5 1/2 weeks. Everyone in that layoff had a termination date of Sept 22. The mount of garden leave you got depended on when you were told your job was gone.

As for the next round, who knows if there will be garden leave?

Europe had extended Garden Leave (4 to 6 months) for at least a
decade. Glad to see it enacted. 30 weeks severance would finally be
the bonus check I've been denied forever.

@a8 I was 100% remote in a non WARN state. I got garden leave last year.

I will be my one year anniversary before I know it!

Got picked off last year. Notified mid August, got paid till late September without having to work. After I returned my laptop, got 6 months severance.

Last year they offered extended garden leave to allow many of us to reach our stock option vest point in September (that was unusually nice of Uncle Larry). For many of us that was very large "payday". I'm hearing that's unlikely to happen with this round of layoffs and that severance amounts maybe more restricted. Best of luck to everyone. There's another whole world outside of Oracle, so getting laid off might be the best thing that happens to you.

@a3 not necessarily. Non-warn states and other countries received a 1 month garden leave as well.

The "garden leave" was due to the WARN notification requirements
